If you can find your way to the CP at the trig point on the top of brown knoll the route off is mandatory and should be flagged as far as the prominent fence/wall line and associated path, which will take you all the way off.

Martyn,
I am very keen if your place is still available? I applied for a place and just found out yesterday that I missed out so this would be amazing as I have been training etc
Thanks
John
I am just arranging to get into the Skyline via a Substitution. I have been cutting back on the distance since completing "The Tigger" in Janurary so I am going to have a fun three weeks ahead of me to get the mileage back up again. Went out last night and done 16 miles at 8:40 pace on the Middlewood Way (converted railway line) longest run since The Trigger. It took 2:18 but I need to get in a couple of 3:30 - 4:00hr runs before March 21st.
Last night's run was actually from 9pm to 11:18pm basically after the house is tidied up and the kids are stuffed in their beds, makes it very hard. Maybe having to do it in three weeks may be an advantage!
I just found out yesterday I'm not in the extended entry list but really want to do this race. If anyone has a place going I would very much appreciate it.
Thanks
I think this has already been asked but just to check.... with the route change is it just to the bottom of Back Tor that you have to stick to the ridge path? As at the bottom I think there's a choice between sticking to the ridge path or taking the slightly lower one to Hollin's Cross... Was out for a recce of the first half this morning, clag was down round Ringing Roger which will make route finding interesting if its like that on the day! :)
Hi Rach
Couldn't persuade that brother of yours to join me for a jog this weekend, he's light weight :)
Yes drop off back Tor to the stile cross over and run round the side.
Give me a bell in couple of weeks and i'll take you round the quick bits....;) but don't tell anyone....
Alas I'm not one of the chosen 400. Have a good run y'all - remember, if you're a 1st timer - the race starts at Mam Nick.
Its 2 laps this year as well
Now there's an idea:w00t:
For people who really want to race this year there will some places being sold on eBay from 8pm this evening - All proceeds will be going to Edale MRT.

Thanks Ian, I had forgotten his name. He deserves having it mentioned.
I am probably being a bit thick here but the kit list states that a long sleeved thermal top is required. Does wearing one count or do I need to cary a spare thermal too?
 Ebay comes good, and the MRT get a nice little profit !!!
how much did the ebay entries go for? a great idea.
The first 2 ended a couple days earlier and I missed those due to being away with work but I think that they went for around £12 each.
The last 3 though finished 20 minutes apart from each one. I seem to remember the first going form £26 and then the second for £31 but the last went for £10.50.
There seemed to be 3 people (me being 1) bidding against each other and as I lost out on the first 2, but I proffed on the last.
It is a great idea and very generous of DPFR to give the full bidded amount to the Edale MRT- good charity fund raising opportunity and good publicity for the event and club.
This is my first Skyline and having read some of the earlier posts there seems to be a route choice after the Grindslow Knoll CP. If the 'down & up' option is taken is there any restrictions or what is this route?? As daft as the question may seem, is it simply head East off Grindslow Knoll picking your way through the fields (looks like many of the walls are broken on google) and then cross the Brook going direct to the last CP?
Any information on this would be very useful and appreciated.
Thanks - Paul
Can anyone confirm if there will be any water stations on the route?
I have seen reference to Hope and Mam Nick, but cannot see anything www race info.
Plenty out recceying over the weekend I noticed :D, and plenty of stud marks on all the 'racing lines'
I did this last year 'for a laugh'. You need to know the precise line to take and be strong at climbing after several hours of running. Sadly, I was lacking in both departments and as I wearily climbed up to Ringing Roger, the gang I'd been with at Grindslow came running down. I'd lost the best part of 5 minutes. At least, I was able to see the funny side of this, in an especially ironic fashion.
It is very tempting, RR seems so close from GK. The view from the brook, though, is not so favourable, especially because you can hear the finish line to your right.
I'd strongly advise you to use the orthodox route on your first run.
