You started drinking early?
You are an expert in chucking out the usual put downs. Daily Mail, Flat Earther.... good stuff.
"And here's the conclusion" X
"ow unlike the Telegraph to use superceded data " X
"As I said above, the report you link to has been superseded by one published earlier this month" X
"The very data you are quoting explicitly states that without lockdown things would have been much worse. It's not an opinion or a belief." X
you see the data I'm quoting is based on the actual reality we have gone through and forecasts going forward based on the reality we have faced and will face.
Everything else is an estimate, a judgement, an opinion.
But you assert some of these opinions as facts, cut and dry because you are "looking for things which appear to confirm your predudices"
It's easy to have a go at someone rather than admit you're wrong, isn't it? Because you have been wrong, even if you don't agree with any of my opinions.
I will revert to my previous policy of not responding to any more of your comments Dave. I don't want to be sucked in to the same relentless ding-dong as Oracle. I also don't want to be seen to be taking up too many column inches on here.
For what it's worth, I think much of the analysis is questionable, even the analysis that might support my opinion. I just found it interesting that there is information in the report that they have spent a lot of time and effort analysing, presenting to dismiss as you seem to believe they have done.
It is an opinion or belief, it's not a fact. The lockdown did happen so we will never know what the outcome would have been if we'd not had it.
WP said "and many believe that without lockdown the outcome would not be as SAGE and Ferguson thought." What's controversial about that? Ferguson after all has a lousy track record in predicting the outcome of pandemics.
Not had a drop since returning from holiday.
I don't need ale to be daft, it comes naturally.
Its not going away and there will never be a vaccine.
So it's inevitable we will all catch it.
Me personally would prefer it while I'm younger and have an increased chance to fight it.
WP said "and many believe that without lockdown the outcome would not be as SAGE and Ferguson thought." What's controversial about that?
The issue is that the report he's going on about explicitly states that without lockdown things would have been much worse. The issue isn't what people believe, but people selectively using evidence.
[QUOTE=Dave_Mole;665758.
People are free to believe what they wish.
If only it was as simple as that.
I see germany is having mass protests against the virus measures.
Won't be long before we follow.
You missed this, then?

Nice to see they're keeping company with the British Union of Fascists.
Wow! Never heard this mentioned in the news, just lots of froth about how the Extinction rebellion protests risk spreading CV19. Hope they got the names and addresses of this lot for track and trace later☺. Amazingly not a tin foil hat to be seen. Thought the police needed better masks than those flimsy ones when they are in a crowd like that.
I don't spend my time trawling the newspapers, just generally get the headlines on the radio ( remember them) and occasionally follow up on't internet.
Currently trying to make some sense of the brief report that the British Army might scrap Challanger tanks and buy German ones. While on the radio they are talking about havng to restrict state aid to British industry as part of the Brexit deal, doesn't Compute
Can see that they're planning to scrap them as they're old and, according to some, not relevent on today's battlefield. Can also see that they're talking about replacing them potnetially with what are effectively drones, but I can't see that there's a plan to buy German tanks instead.Quote:

Anyway, a bit off topic :)
I don’t get this condemnation by association thing. So if I am a Man U supporter and find out that Peter Sutcliffe / Gary Glitter / Derek Chauvin also support Man U, do I have to support Man City instead? Cos they are bad men and I cannot allow myself to be tainted by their own personal likes or dislikes. Even though my decision to support Man U had F all to do with their various crimes?
Good post Brummie.
Look after your family.
Brummie's post has gone????
Is someone messing with my head?
No. He deleted it himself
I thought I was ranting too much after a glass of wine and got a bit upset over my mother in lawÂ’s situation during lockdown. But the gist is IÂ’m not a happy bunny and no one is actually following any of the scientific evidence that is now out there.
Thoughts with you. It’s been a wretched time for so many people
Interesting. Clearly, some of those testing +ve had it some time ago, and are no longer infectious. But they still had it at some stage. The idea that labs themselves are now contaminated with RNA fragments resulting in false positive tests is a worry. As to how many cycles of PCR amplification are needed to give a positive result, it does not correlate directly with viral load and infectivity - how much RNA is on a swab is not the same as how much RNA the person concerned is harbouring. Labs that have given +ve, then -ve, then +ve results on the same person are presumably not too contaminated. The concept that almost all of these are not reinfection is an important thing to know.
Thanks for the link.
The Netherlands.

Oh dear, look what's heppened to the Netherlands since August
Attachment 8806

Nice to see that graph was produced by someone who openly admits to being "I am neither a scientist nor medic".
What would your solution or advice be Dave??
So???
No answer then???
- Cases: 342,351 (+1,940)
- Deaths (28-day): 41,537 (+10)
- Deaths (no-cutoff): 47,573 (+98)
- Tests Processed: N/A
- Case AVG: 1,529.57 (+94.86)
- Death AVG (28-day): 7.29 (+0.15)
- Death AVG (no-cutoff): 47.43 (+0.86)
Bit of a difference!
