A newcomer, do you remember the wombles?

Doesn't look likely I am going to make it... I seem to be really rather ill :(
Much much iller than I thought... :(
Is anyone planning a cobweb-blower-awayer on the Sunday a.m.? Al, would you be up for this, or do you need to get back?
Other than going up skiddaw, the nearest lump id suggest is walla crag. You can run along the lake from keswick to ashness bridge, up the hill to ashnes bridge (that section is on road) then hit the trod all the way to walla crag. It isnt loads but its a nice route. The from there theres a few bigger lumps which we would could head over to if we had any spare time/energy left...and then its simple back to keswick. 1hr 30 mins if its just up and down the other side of walla crag.
Other than that you've got alsorts....catbells and beyond, causey pike....the fells by bassenthwaite which i dont know at all.
Wheres my map.:D
Would but will be watching legally blond the musical in the west end instead!!
Here's where i'm at, i'm not sure i'm in a fit state knee wise to do the 10m XOTF run but i could do a 5m de-cobwebber, so if your route's something of that order and i decide it'd be foolish to do XOTF i'm in too. Everything's still up in the air as far as my fitness goes, after the little upset 2 wks ago i've done nothing and it's not really improved a great deal, this would be a good compromise if it's suitable but don't let me dictate your route plans. ;)
Amex my friend, when I say I am a bit ill, it usually means I am dying... and I ain't kidding! Next 24 hrs are the crunch, if my temperature doesn't drop with the antibiotics I will be in hospital come tomorrow morning :(
It would also be a tad troublesome, trying to run, as currently, my left leg only moves upwards if it gets a helping hand from my right arm... :( On the flat, it just about drags along without collapsing underneath me though, suppose that would get me from the hostel to the George... but no Snecklifter with the antibiotics :(
Sounds like there's a couple of options. Al, I like the sound of your Walla Crag run. Doable with a hangover, extendable if we're not too bad. Wouldn't also mind seeing some of the BG route for the first time:confused:
Suggest we finalise on the Saturday after the XOTF run: who's coming, which runs will go with which level of hangover... Al, bring your map;).
I need to get back at some point so prob looking at 2hrs max. Like I said, a cobweb-blower-awayer rather than a looong training run. (Unless people want to set their alarm clocks!:D)
Just seen your list Al. Emmi would be proud:D. Some more options too. Nice one!;)

I am really sorry to hear you are ill. was looking forward to getting whupped on the bike on Sunday. looks like I will have to join the rest of the hungovered peasants running on Sunday now. (unless my missus finds out and drags me off xmas shopping, a fate worse than death, worse than watching x factor, strictly all rolled into one)
I really hope you are better soon and Amex behave, we want her to get better not worse.
see the rest of you saturday and will be thinking of you Han.
by the way is the meeting place/ parking place obvious in scales never haveing frequented this hamlet before
Good idea...deciding on a route saturday night sounds ideal, and maybe re-thinking it come sunday morning depending on what state everyone is in would be very wise indeed!
Its abit of a ponse thing to say...but i dont know if im the only one...but i'd need about 1:30 - 2hrs after i have my breakfast before i run....or i'll be throwing up for both booze and food.:D
Meet at the Moot Hall for such a time and off we plod.
For those of us who want to run further can do that, and for people like softie (im with softie) who cant be out too long and mr brightside who cant run too far can cut it short.
Im refusing to but it in alphabetical order though.:D
MESSAGE FOR AMEX.
Just to make sure everyone gets to the right place and when i think you'd best clarify.
To my knowledge......we all meet at the moot hall in keswick for 10:30.
Then drive in convoy (car sharing makes sence) for 11 and then run.
Do we ALL meet at the moot hall or can some people just go straight to scales?
Amex is the boss so im just after clarification as i dont want anyone being confused/not there/late etc etc etc.....im a lovely caring person you see.;)
wont it be a bit chaotic in Keswick centre at 10:30am the last Saturday before Xmas. I dont fancy getting trapped in my car in Keswick, as it can be pretty awful sometimes.
Well last year we did the same but it was the day before christmas eve....the car park was nearly empty and the only people at the moot hall where people setting up the market.
When we where off the fells most of the shoppers had gone.
Sure we'll be reet.
Al, you sure we met day before New Year's Eve last year for XOTF?
Id like to if Fleeter is up for it
