Gonna be fun in the Brightside house later...
A whole cabbage???
Salopian Kasmir - stunning, if you see it buy it!
one of the rare occasions when I've thought a beer is significantly better than my homebrew. in fact it knocks pretty much everything else into a cocked hat.
A lovely mix of almost syrupy thickness, taste sensation, fruity aroma and a long bitter finish. excellent balance and very drinkable.
bottled, from Beerritz.
More Tether Blond tonight.
Cracking pint of Brewsmith IPA amongst others at great ale year on Bolton market.
Belting pint of turks head in the Turks head pub Penzance.
A few belters in The Flying Duck tonight. Kala Black IPA, Stod Fold Extra Special Bitter & 2 superb Acorn Forester.

2 splendid pints of Blackheart Stout from Nelson Brewing Co. in The Flying Duck last night.
Ilkley Mary Jane at Ilkley Rugby Club on great form at three quid a pint this afternoon
£3 sounds a bit pricey for a 3.5% ale, especially in a rugby club. I thought Aussie beer was expensive but I'm not so sure now.

Its getting expensive this beer lark :p
In The Friends Of Ham today: a terrific Roosters Coffee Porter, a superb Bristol Beer Factory Milk Stout followed by a disappointing Northern Monk Brew Company Chennai Export Porter.
A terrific Moorhouse's Black Cat last night. £1.25 from Booths. The Premier Bitter, also from Moorhouse's, is only £1 !
Just finished a Moorhouse PB ;)
recently.
Mary Jane. a few
cask Jaipur and Moor Nor'hop at Major Toms
and one for Jez - the 'new' Guinness West Indies porter which was excellent, maybe a tad sweet.
i think it's available in most supermarkets. Guinness have just released that and a Dublin porter. I got mine from Morrisons, on offer at £1.50 each. It's not as good as F.E. but for the (current) price it's a worthy alternative.
A good session on Phoenix Brewery's 'Arizona' over the weekend. Lovely pint that :D

South East Queensland is not the best known part of the world for decent beer! However most of the locals have not even heard of Fosters which is an Aussie joke created for pommies. We've found several local microbreweries so are not entirely bereft of tasty beer.
Tonight we had some stuff from the Scenic Rim Brewery which despite the less than original names are tasty!

I was in Manchester the other day and I noticed The Lower Turk's Head is open again (actually reopened in 2013) on Shudehill. The chances of a pub reopening after being shut down are quite slim but the Lower Turk's Head had been shut for over 20 years!! They have modernised the interior but the basic floor plan is the same. There used to be another Turk's Head further up Shudehill which is why this one was called the "Lower" one. Anyway that's the history but they had local Manchester ales (Holt's and Lees) on and 3 guest ales on as well. It still has the original distinctive tiles on the outside of the pub as well, no idea how it managed to survive intact all these years. They have opened a wine bar next door as part of the same enterprise and the rear room of the pub meets with the rear room of the wine bar.
I'm well pleased its open again and its in a good spot to finish a tour of the Northern quarter real ale emporiums before catching a train at Victoria or do it in reverse and end up at Piccadilly station ;)
Northern Monk - Chennai Export Porter at the Duck last night. Tasty
Northern Monk Refectory opens in Leeds at The Old Flax Store Holbeck on Friday 24th October all beers brewed on site.
Some fine ales last night in The Fox in Shipley, celebrating breaking up for a week. The highlight being a tremendous Founders Porter. If you haven't been & are ever passing through, call in, you won't be disappointed.
Barnsley Gold.
3 Sneck Lifters last night.
Slept like a log.
A variety of fine ales at the First Chop Brewing Arm in Salford last night. Definitely requires further visits. The DOC pale ale was probably the highlight.
Magic Rock - The Great Alphonso (what a name!) a mango infused pale ale with Citra hops. bloody good.
Magic Rock - Dark Arts. go on Jez, treat yourself, it's lovely.
both at Harrogate Tap
Outlaw - Wanted dead or alive - meh
Brooklyn - Lager - a 'proper' old school lager, darker than most bitter. cracking
at Swan on the Stray-Harrogate
Joules Pale Ale in the Coopers Tavern. Proper beer in a proper pub.
Small beer festival (and music) in the pub tonight, all 6 beers brewed by women - they tend to all be high alcohol content, never mind. I started last night so best have another go tonight, support the lady brewers and all that!
Platinum Blonde last night and well recommended.
