I am in two minds whether i should do my club handicap race today. I know im not going to be able to run as strong as i did at Auld Lang Syne because my legs havent properly recovered yet, and my knees abit dodgy.
But ive been looking forward to it for while, and i consulted my 10 year old sister at 2am this morning for her opinion when she woke up with stomach ache.... She said "Do it!"
Yeah was really good. Legs felt like jelly so i couldnt push as hard as id licked but it was nice.
Not experienced a handicap before so seeing all the runners in the distance and slowly catching them up is good fun.
As i was about to over-take my first postion the track we where running on was 100% sheet ice and went flying straight away.
All in all a good race, but i was 7 minutes and 3 seconds off the record - no chance anyone could get that today with all the ice and the ground being so hard and unforgiving.
There was about 3 or so fast guys missing so had they been there running i should of knocked my time down abit.
Ive been put into the Pennine Bridleway mixed team. Im running with the woman who holds the womens record for today so should be a decent pace although our fell captain said there noone fast enough for me to run with (All the fast lads are veterens and im not quite old enough )
7.4 miles - 1 hours and 17 seconds.
Well theres a cross country on near me next weekend 'lancashire championships' i think - so may have a go at that.
Other than that and the relays i have no idea - I want to do fairfield this year and anni waltz.
I got told about my clubs championship races today so may have a go at that - theres a few race's ive never heard of so may require some help from the forum.
Yourself?
You've got years (decades actually) to do things like the Fellsman Al :)
Not really thought too much about logistics of BGR but have been chatting with some successful people and friends who know various legs well ;) The time is coming for me to try do it though
Where is the Fellman? yes Pilgrim said to me he was doing that one...
I live in Yorkshire for a time, but i have to admit i never went to many fell places, tend to stick to shopping i guess, it is a beautiful place, i did want to move there and live, but it was brrrr tooo cold for me!

Yes looking forward to halfway thru the week....not as much as the end of the week:D. Mind you I haven't worked a fri since september so its gonna seem like a very very long week to me:eek: :(
I know........
But today is nearly over and the bat phone only rang the once so it wasn't a total disaster, mind youI have to drive back on the no doubt icy roads now so still time for things to go wrong :D
Evening :)
Speaking of work, two jobs I rung up about today had already been filled one of which was a new advert today !!
as for work, it's total shite (other than i'm grateful for itpaying the bills), I already nearly said the F-off word to someone at work today, thats not good when you're a social worker. I need to stop this helping the ungrateful, advantage taking ,welfare state dredging crap that i have to work with.Become the joker, turn this shitehole of a world into pure anarchy and sit back and laugh my ass off at it!!
(can you tell i still dont have a car and have not been on the fells for a month)
It's a good job I'm in a relatively good mood as could feel my blood rising  Maybe it's time you used your skills in a different area where people are crying out to get a decent social worker who has half an ounce of knowledge and actually does want to help,.......sadly certain things can't be accessed without them and in my experience and believe me I could really go on, this system does need them.
I can sympathise you've had a crap day but equally I could have strangled my social worker today  pure bloody ineptitude.
