I am in two minds whether i should do my club handicap race today. I know im not going to be able to run as strong as i did at Auld Lang Syne because my legs havent properly recovered yet, and my knees abit dodgy.
But ive been looking forward to it for while, and i consulted my 10 year old sister at 2am this morning for her opinion when she woke up with stomach ache.... She said "Do it!"

I did it - seemed to aquire the last set off time since Auld Lang Syne - set the fastest time by about 6 or so minutes on the next guy.
Managed to catch half the field up.

Yeah was really good. Legs felt like jelly so i couldnt push as hard as id licked but it was nice.
Not experienced a handicap before so seeing all the runners in the distance and slowly catching them up is good fun.
As i was about to over-take my first postion the track we where running on was 100% sheet ice and went flying straight away.

All in all a good race, but i was 7 minutes and 3 seconds off the record - no chance anyone could get that today with all the ice and the ground being so hard and unforgiving.
There was about 3 or so fast guys missing so had they been there running i should of knocked my time down abit.

Ive been put into the Pennine Bridleway mixed team. Im running with the woman who holds the womens record for today so should be a decent pace although our fell captain said there noone fast enough for me to run with (All the fast lads are veterens and im not quite old enough )

    7.4 miles - 1 hours and 17 seconds.

There was talk yesterday of K&C putting a 2nd team in the Bridleway relay so I might see you there. What's your next race?

Well theres a cross country on near me next weekend 'lancashire championships' i think - so may have a go at that.
Other than that and the relays i have no idea - I want to do fairfield this year and anni waltz.
I got told about my clubs championship races today so may have a go at that - theres a few race's ive never heard of so may require some help from the forum.

    Yourself?

Fairfield and Anni Waltz are both classic events; you'll like them I'm trying to decide whether to have a go at a Bob Graham this summer!
