LOL, I am going to take the go slower, be safer apprioach... on the grounds that it is going to take me more time to repair tyres/replace tubes and the like than it will cost me in going slower...
Besides, I am having a lovely new set of wheels built at the moment... Hope hubs, Mavic openpro rims... I ain't breaking those:eek:
Oh and you will be safe this year Merry! If you carry my bike up Simon's Fell for me, I will keep all the spiders away from you :D

Yep :D
Either you, or Ady, or Anti... as long as I don't have to do it...
I have some space on offer in my support car in exchange for carrying duties as well, for those who need it ;D
Mind you my support will be as slow as I will be, so that may mean a wait for your spare wheels to arrive :D

I was drinking Rose in order to dull the pain from my bloody calf after my tumble yesterday. Lots of peas but it is pretty sore this morning, hope it recovers in time. Think that's my erratic training completed.
Re carrying H's bike, would it not be quicker and lighter to carry her and let the bike make its own way?

I am sat at the computer with a bag of peas strapped to my leg as we speak. May progress to Broccoli later by way of a change.

Re: 3 Peaks CX entry list on l
Broad beans are the key to icing. They are larger and retain their temperature longer. :D
-
Re: 3 Peaks CX entry list on l
Do you eat your peas/broad beans after icing with them? :D

Not usually however yesterday after I bought 2 packs of peas for icing purposes, I realised I had few veggies for tea and used a pack. I think the infused sweat mud and oil marinade had seeped through the plastic to give an interesting and more'ish flavour.

the first road section is like a full on crit..
the lead car in the neutralised section is doing 25mph plus !
so it's a very fast start and fighting to get a good place and a good wheel
from what I could make out last year Wheelbase basically occupied the front of the grid and lead em round like the pied piper...the whole race was strung out behind...it's crazy:D, but exciting:)
I was much suprised by this my first year.....
think of it as a big fell race with a stile in the first few hundred yards...

I donb't think my cross bike knows how to go at 25 mph  It does about 20/21 on the flat... that is it
So what is your advice? Go with the manic speedsters at the front, or hang back and avoid the kerfuffle and risk of crashes? I am not envisaging to be very fast, had thought I'd only average 20mph on the road sections and about half that off road?
Mind you, I'd be faster if I can hang onto a good wheel... Hoping one doesn't frown upon me not taking turns at the front, LOL!
-
Re: 3 Peaks CX entry list on l
No worries about being accused of wheel sucking in that bun fight... if you find a good wheel just stick on it. Last year I made a real effort to hang on the coat-tails of the front(ish) group and it did make a real difference when we left the road. Hardly any queuing at the stile and the guys ahead of me once we got off the bikes were going at a decent clip. Trying to overtake once your off the bike on Inglesod is real pain and wastes loads of energy.

So I should try grab a wheel at the front and try and stay on it then? I find this hard enough at road races... although I do tend to boldly start right at the front... < wibble >
