Re: White Holme Circular (agai
Great race Stringman, thanks for the organisation, helpers etc. As usual, very much appreciated.
Colin thanks for lending me your spare gloves, mine were in my car boot, d'oh! Mind you pleased I borrowed yours, they're much better than mine. You can't beat toasty hands.
Apols I didn't stay, felt I had a really bad race (this is becoming quite common) so I sulked and drove home. Really need to give up some of the sh1t food and ale (note I said some of) and increase my training.
Dave, thanks for giving me another run for my money, you've really improved....it took a near throwing up sprint at the end to just pip you. Are you helping/running Trog? I'm at High Brown Knoll. See you in Lane Ends afterwards, also club run on 12th from the Masons.I'll be there as I have that week off.

Re: White Holme Circular (agai

Nice to meet Swoop, Derby Tup, Roger Rabbit, Clive, Fellmonster (winner and pony), and bump into Fleeter, Tussockface and Amex again if i've forgotten anyone, sorry, i'm on the lager now. Didn't get to meet JJ and Chris, don't think they were there when i registered. Another time folks. Suns out now and its cracking t'flags here. Gonna go and sit on me decking with lager and be physically abused by mine and everyone else's kids on our street:D

Re: White Holme Circular (agai
Good to see lots of you today (though I can't top Merrylegs' comprehensive list - I didn't realise there were so many of us there!)
White Holme is another Stringman classic and I hope it's now well established in the calendar. It's tough not because of climbs, but because of relative lack of them - there's not sufficient excuse for much walking....
Sorry I didn't get to see Swoop at the end. We spent the entire race overtaking each other. Glad you managed get those walkers to drag you out of the bog, Swoop - the forum would have been quiet without you...

Great race. Thanks Stringman. Can we do it without the wind next year.
Good to see half the forum there. In addition to those mentioned above Dominion, Penguin, Graham B, Leeds Rhino, Steve C, Ali and Disco Stan were all there.
According to Sport Tracks it is 12.2 miles and almost 1200 feet (1800 feet using Garmin!) so I reckon
12 miles / 1200 feet should stand as the race description.
Well done Tussockface. When I passed you on the way back to the White House I knew I needed to open a gap with the descent to come but you just hung in there and then ran away from me.
I was amused when Derby Tup said he had been looking over his shoulder for me because he knew I was a good descender!:D Who's been telling him porkies?
I don't know how I managed to get both legs stuck knee deep in the bog but at least I got out!
Today was a good workout in preparation for Mickleden next week.
See you all there.

It's true that a walker did offer assistance but I declined as I wanted to make sure my shoe didn't get left behind if he pulled too hard.:)

I believe you Swoop, thousands wouldn't, would losing one shoe affect the total ascent on your Garmin, i think it might;)
-
Re: White Holme Circular (agai

-
Re: White Holme Circular (agai

Looked for you today but you must have been disguised as a human. Unless you got straight off after the race. i.e Panda: eats, shoots and leaves:D

Re: White Holme Circular (agai
Another great Stringman production,well done.
Clive, can't make it over to the Trog, got to go to the dentist that day would you believe:mad: I shall endeavour to get over to The Masons for your birthday drink though, hopefully do a torchlit fell run first:D
My knee hurts like hell now after cracking it on that rock, but well chuffed with my run today and also yesterday at the National x/c in Leeds.

Re: White Holme Circular (agai
BTW, does anyone know what happened to JJ and Chris? As we know, they were intending to be there. Hope all is OK among the Jolivers.
-
Re: White Holme Circular (agai
aye merrylegs I didn't stay too long, long enough for some soup and chips though:p (I was in a green Helsby vest btw)
'stringman', that's a name of one of my favourite Neil Young songs.
"Take the simple case of the sarge
Who can't go back to war
'Cause the hippies
tore down everything
that he was fighting for"
not very fell related I know, but superb song nonetheless!

No Judy. I ducked out after last year's disaster at White Holme I felt I needed a rest day!
