Good to see lots of you today (though I can't top Merrylegs' comprehensive list - I didn't realise there were so many of us there!)
White Holme is another Stringman classic and I hope it's now well established in the calendar. It's tough not because of climbs, but because of relative lack of them - there's not sufficient excuse for much walking....
Sorry I didn't get to see Swoop at the end. We spent the entire race overtaking each other. Glad you managed get those walkers to drag you out of the bog, Swoop - the forum would have been quiet without you...
Great race. Thanks Stringman. Can we do it without the wind next year.![]()
Good to see half the forum there. In addition to those mentioned above Dominion, Penguin, Graham B, Leeds Rhino, Steve C, Ali and Disco Stan were all there.
According to Sport Tracks it is 12.2 miles and almost 1200 feet (1800 feet using Garmin!) so I reckon
12 miles / 1200 feet should stand as the race description.
Well done Tussockface. When I passed you on the way back to the White House I knew I needed to open a gap with the descent to come but you just hung in there and then ran away from me.
I was amused when Derby Tup said he had been looking over his shoulder for me because he knew I was a good descender!Who's been telling him porkies?
I don't know how I managed to get both legs stuck knee deep in the bog but at least I got out!
Today was a good workout in preparation for Mickleden next week.
See you all there.
really enjoyed this race, was very well organised and chips at the end made a welcome change to bamboo! will have to introduce myself next time so I get to know faces behind the avatars!
Swoop, I swear I'd seen on here something about you being an ace descender! Really enjoyed running today and seeing everyone; a cracking do!
