fingers crossed, it will be safe enough eh. Cheers
Paul.

We hear the roads have been gritted and clear, but the car park is a bit more difficult - cars have been in the car park and the portaloo delivery lorry got in (phew!) but it is 'a bit slippery'.
Are the Junior Quarry runs on as well?
Quarry Runs are on.
may run in microspikes for the first time, what do other people think? Used them in the previous snow and they were fantastic but that was very compacted.
wrap up warm! minus 11.5 in the bottoms and minus 8 outside the house, quite a big temperature inversion.
Cracking day for it, the mist didnt spoil another great atmosphere up on penistone eh.
Thanks to organisers, good coffee and biccies. A fair few in fancy dress too.
Looked like the front runners were floating across the snow on their way down... fascinating to watch.
Merry xmas!!!
Some senior photos on woodentops.org.uk now.
Still working on the junior photos.

Results on too! Fantastic work paul.Well done and thanks. Another fun Woodentop event. 5 secs slower than last year but gained a couple of places. Well done Holmesy.
Great photo's. I see my brother-In-Law was the only nutter wearing a vest & shorts (#90) !!!
A most enjoyable race. What I don't quite understand though is how the South Pennine Tourist board thinks that filming 200 of us running through the snow in sub zero temperatures whilst wearing novelty santa hats is going to encourage "normal" people to visit the area?
...and having looked at the photo, there's something to be said for his 'matching thighs and hat' combo.
Are you lot mad? :-) Never fails to amaze me the conditions that you lot run in!

Good to see that some people where the proper kit for bad weather conditions...

This is a cracker of "Rock 'Ard Toni Melechi" !!

brrrrr.
pretty chilly on Sunday morning, my post race weather info said -5/-6. really enjoyed it though, seeing all those steaming santa hats bobbing around the cricket pavillion supping tea and eating biscuits at the end was really funny.
The impromptu skating session, at the newly installled rink around the trig was great fun too! :w00t:
thanks to the woodentops
Good point ! What a wimp !

I love this race! Last year was my first and I never thought we'd get a chance to do it in the snow again so soon!!! Fantastic Christmas fun, thanks Woodentops!
I see he's at it again.
RR is a bloody good runner but that Holmsie just keeps winning.
Mans a LEGEND.

Some of the funniest fell race photos I've ever seen! Particularly amusing are the ones in Owen Mills' collection which have bizarrely-clad runners passing each other going in opposite directions, and Dave's 'tea urn' set.
Annual 'must do', Santa hats obligatory.
Who'll be there?
Aye, I'm up for a potter.
Nowt serious though as I am having a couple or 3 tonight.
Injured so not doing actual race. Think little biara is having a run, so still going up..
It was a difficult choice between the Stoop & PECO round 2.
Club loyalties won the day, but roll on the Stanbury Splash!)
Another fine race by the Woodentops. Thanks to Dave and his merry band of helpers.
Safety briefing was brill.
"Its icey out there, and if you get knocked down crossing a road its your own fault"
Followed by singing Happy Birthday to a Wharfee runner.
Then GO
Great race run in good fun sprits with plenty of tumbles.
P.S. Walsh's out performed all the Inov's around me in the the race.
Nice day for it, even if it was a bit cold waiting for the start. Conditions underfoot alternated between ice rink and slough. One second you would be running along on solid frozen mud, next second up to your knees in bog. I went down twice, the second time when a K&C frequenter of these fora went face first into the bog in front of me in a spectacular belly flop.
Who won the mens race today. I know that Helen Fines is back to winning ways taking the ladies prize with team mate Anne Johnson in 3rd. Good one. Interesting about Walsh's as I still use them ... that's when I'm fit to race that is. Next year now. This year has been a right off as I sit here now with a blo*dy chest infection that is proving a begger to shift.
Well done to all, a brilliant day weather wise.
Thanks to Dave and Eileen and all the fantastic helpers for making it the great day as usual.
Agree with the above, it was quite funny in that there were lots of "ooooooooohs", "arghhhhhhhhs", and various other cries for attention (including mine!) depending upon the challenging terrain, ice rink one minute, deep bog the next.
Good work everyone, especially the fancy dressers, Ted, that was awesome mate in wellies and the JCB outfit, chapeau!
