Great races for juniors and seniors alike. Thanks to Morgan and all those involved.
Brilliant race. Made the mistake of looking down while negotiating the last bit of the Nick. Icy rocks and sheer drop I cacked myself. Spent most of the descent considering the madness of running flat out on ice and snow with rocks jutting up in it and the likely injury if I tripped or slipped. Must be getting too old / normal. That said , arriving in one piece was all the sweeter.
Third year of this run, nearly didn't make it, stuck on A1, for an hour n `alf, got here with `alf hour spare. Always a spectacle, very atmospheric in the `Nick`, although the snow n ice on top, stopped me beltin` it back to the finish as much as I normally would ( future races on the mind ). Same time as last year barring a couple o secs, no photo stops this year either, blame it on my `slightly`worn Speedcross studs (and setting off from the traps like a greyhound, jiggered after first couple o mile). Big thanks to the organisers and mtn rescue been out there, cheers `n`thanks everyone.
What a great race. Super route and slightly extreme conditions made for a memorable day. Many thanks to the organisers and marshalls especially the race starter (I assume Morgan Donnelly) who I saw picking up about half a carrier bag of dog dirt from the start/finish area a couple of hours before the race.
Missed you in the pics Deadlegs you will receive honarable mention in the next race report.
Missed this event three years on the bounce due to various lame excuses, next year, conditions looked just about right, slightly worse than Noonstone 2010, makes you feel alive running in these conditions.
Some Photo's here on GOOGLE Thanks to Andrew Martindale for braving the weather.https://plus.google.com/photos/11266...297?banner=pwa Attachment 6802
Anyone seen the results from this race yet?
this is not the place.... this is :)im there, anyone else?
many thanks to those that made today happen, especially the marshals braving some wild conditions due to the wind!! one of my fav races and the beer in the stag is top drawer, hawkshead windermere on draught and esthwaite bitter, great :o
High Nick fell race pictures on http://racingsnakes.com/HighNick.php. Taken at two locations.... Most pictures also on http://facebook.com/racingsnakes ....enjoy
Great race, really enjoyed it (apart from the soup that ran out) . Anyone know why only the top 50 results have been posted he FRA website ? What about the rest of us???? :(
Morgan is still typing :)
Has he finished yet? :)
Nope, not yet
Hurry up that man! I was 53rd (I think)
Cheers Brett.
Anyone who grouses about the speed of results appearing should be disqualified. :D
If you are that concerned you could can nearly always see them at Race HQ after the finish. Or better still offer your services to the organiser to type them up.
In any case it is only the first few results that really matter, where the "also rans" like me finished is not important, except to me personally and if I am really bothered then Para 2 applies!
This received from Morgan

We do our results the old fashion way with stickers and a large board. I have been working in Cornwall all week and could not fit the board in with me! Will try & send you final set of results later once we get them typed up!
We paid £6! For the race organisation (including insurance), the presence of mountain rescue, marshals freezing their toes (or whatever) off, the course to be flagged, the stuff to be cleared away, the tolerance of a small community to the presence of 200 runners, soup, bread..... Maybe we can wait for the rest of the results???
Hope nobody thinks I'm complaining about the speed of them, I was just maybe a little eager to see but certainly not complaining and only kidding about hurrying up. No negatives from me at all, great race, great day, thoroughly enjoyed it and not too shabby a result considering my results and general position on races last year. Even stopped Morgan by the hall to say thanks for putting on a great race.
I know it's not the results but I took a shot of the board and tweeted it over to Fell Running Briefs. I imagine the compression to put it on here may make it illegible but if anyone wants it drop me a PM with a mail address and I'll send it over. It covers 1 to 96 with bits of the stickers of 97 to 108 if anyone fancies working out who's who on those.
since I'm not at the HPM I'm heading up for this...any one know what the snow is like up there.
any one else going?
I'm considering going, always wanted to visit HCN and never have. No idea on conditions i'm afraid, but hoping there's a decent amount of snow about up there, but not enough to enforce any route changes!
Looks like they had a bit of snow but a rapid thaw

Another fantastic race, I don't think there is any thing like it in in the peak or the lakes. superb race
Ricky demolished the field and won in 1.01 and a few seconds. Unbelievable given the mud and slippy rocks.
I hope to bring a larger contingent from DP next year.
Ricky Lightfoot is a ridiculous runner isn't he, lol. Did he have any decent competition yesterday?
Loved this race last year but had opted for cross country and helping my road club out. That setting in Dufton is lovely, I never made it into the pub last time. Sadly a minor calf niggle kept me out as it was anyway.
were there any photographers out on race day or has any one a decent picture looking up or down the valley showing the runners.
We've done an article for the DP news letter and would like a decent picture. credit given of course.

Wondered if anyone knew what the kit requirements are for this race as the FRA website says no map available.
Does that mean no map needed, as it's a B category, or just got to mark your own?
Thanks.
I think (I might be wrong), it just means there's no link in the information for the race map.
Map here though - http://www.dufton.org.uk/High%20Cup%...ute%20V1.0.pdf
Hi, thanks a lot for that. That's great. Will print that off more than likely then.
Cheers,
Josh
