Fellsman is now FULL according to web-site ;)
Good to hear Fleet Moss is "in"!
As for packs, I ran it last year with the OMM classic 25 l sac which was too big for the amount I was carrying. This year I'll be using two of the OMM Last Drop 10 l sac, the 6 l waist pouch (giant bumbag) or the 2 l chestpouch/nosebag which were fantastic on the OMM itself as a trio but I reckon I'll only need one/two of them on the Fellsman. I need to spend a few private evenings on Bleaklow working out which of the three bits work best. I had thought of just attaching the chest pouch with nipple clamps but that might not get me through kit check.
Got an OMM Adventure light 20 for this. Bigger than needed but managed to compress it quite well so sits firm and it is damn light.
Recce'd fleet moss to Yarnbury on Saturday with a small group. Found a reasonably dry route, but some mud jumping was inevitable before Stake moss.
Thanks for the advice.
Tried the Last Drop, Inov Race 12 and the OMM Adventure lite 20 at the weekend and went for the OMM AV 20.
Tried it yesteray on a every winter round of Carnedd Llewelyn and very impressed with capacity, weight and general fit.
Anyone planning a recce of Cray to the finish that wants to car share?
Need to do this section before the event so coul dmeet in in Threshfiled then take a car up to Cray.
Next few weekends should be ok.
Any takers, drop me a line.
Not long now....
Emailed off the organisers to ask if the good old kit check would be avail on Fri night for those who are stopping at Threshfield....Good news on that front came back - one less thing (& queue also) to think about come the Sat morn.
Reply from organisers was....
We are indeed having a kit check session on the Friday night at Threshfield and we are encouraging anyone who can get their kit checked there to do so. Hopefully it should ease the congestion at the start on Saturday morning.
I look forward to seeing you on the weekend.
Aye, not long now!
Yep and the weather is apparently turning wetter and colder for this weekend - just in time to quench fleet moss's thirst and get things proper mucky again :). Here's hoping for fine weather on the day/night though.
I went Fleet Moss to Capplestone Gate 10 days ago and only encountered a soggy patch on the approach to Oughtershaw Tarn (having taken the southern route), then the climb of Gt Whernside was very wet. The rest was very dry and since then it's been warm and dry so the soggy bit's should be well improved by now. A bit of light rain shouldn't change things and may benefit from softening the underfoot. It's 22 years since I last did this event, done very little in between and only started preparing for this back end of last year, out with torn ankle ligaments mid Feb-March didn't help. Looking over from Middle Tongue I could see Ingleborough in the very far distance and it inspired me to scratch FFS onto a stone at the base of the trig point.
Might pop over Blea Moor and continue to Dodd Fell on Sat. Getting lost in Dent village somehow bothers me!
