And there was me stuck in work having a mare :( I'm jealous. Won't be able to escape until Wednesday which will be a run and then ride Thurs.

20 miles at 17.5mph average. Not bad, could do better... Suprised by the number of cyclists out there - it's a bit of a non cycling town round here.
Well done Toffer (#2399)! You'll soon be up to me.
Today managed to fit in 40km on the Kettler Opal. The Amstel Gold boys were on TV. The winning uphill sprint finish by the Belgian Phillippe Gilbert did it for me. Phew, what a ride! An amazing sprint; and after 31 hills!
Bill the Book's Final Verdict:-
Sharp test for Cadel Evans. Needs 4-6 weeks.
Yup, inspired by Gilbert I took to the patio again, 30 mins of effort facing a different bit of the garden:) Better than yesterday!
Dog doesn't quite understand though as she often runs with me on the MTB and thought we were off somewhere.....turbo didn't move though, dog!
You should get a pet treadmill to sit along side the turbo??

Not watched the Amstel yet. Gilbert won , oh that will be a relief for Belgium:).
Did my first sportive today, the howgill hammer. It was great! 54 miles and really hilly, about 2000 feet of climbing including a brute of a climb out of dent to barbondale. Mine was the only bike there without clip in pedals! I'm sure mine wad the only second hand one :-) I might do another I think.
Ah, Swiss Toni, what a lovely peaceful spot is Barbondale on a quiet sunny morning. Out on a training jog I said 'hello' to the great Wainwright at Barbondale; he was having a picnic by a stream. I could tell that his eyesight was more or less gone. Two women had taken him up in a car.
It was quite a sad moment to think that he could feel the breeze, the sunlight, and hear the birdsong and the water babbling over the rocks but probably he couldn't see much further than the end of his sandwich.
Tour of Turkey final stage yesterday, and another sprint (the 5th?) for Andre Greipel. Pretty impressive rider.
More TV-Amstel today!
fellrunner: thanks those bag things look cool!
emmi: it is prime BG time isn't it...i had managed to forget.
Well, I TT'd... and you can now put me down for 24 mph LOL!
Took over 6 minutes off my pb and am getting close to the hour now... 1.03.42... My aim this year was to go sub 1.05 for a 25 and sub 25 mins for a 10... well, the 25 aim will have to be reset to going under the hour
Got some prize money even, for second best improved rider
Thanks Guys :) :)
Rest day today, so no cycling to report...
Err what about cleaning the bike???????
Spent an hour doing mine tonight, one of the damm pedals will not come out. I take them out every 3 months as well to grease them. Maybe I wasnt trying hard enough.
I might have to try a Time Trial one day. Not sure about those fancy bars mind
I just had time to fit in a short ride before tea tonight.
Headed straight for the country lanes for a quality 8.25 miles with some short sharp climbs - 27:23 mins. (and two big cattle grids where i had to get off)
Legs still trashed for Coledale on saturday but i loved it. I climbed the local hill no worries - which used to finish me off a couple of years ago.
I really really really love my bike!:D
16 miles hilly bike ride on fixed, can't quite get the hang of this yet for general riding but loved the recent club tt i did on it. Changed to a 20 sprocket today (50t front ring) given the local hills, think I will have to go back to the 18 for general riding and get a 14 for tt to start with as well as some tri's. Managed hills on 20 fine, but couldn't get anywhere on the flat.
Done v little cycling recently need to get some biking in this year if I want to hold Hann off at the 3px. Excellent result for her 25.
AL I did give you a thought but to be fair I was thinking of other things
A clue:)http://www.cyclingnz.com/profiles/a594_tibco.jpg
Lizzie Armitstead, Daz!;)
Love to ride with Liz Hatch:cool: Couldn't keep up though:o

No ride today. May drag the Kettler in front of the TV for the Waloon Arrow tomorrow (Eurosport).
My cheap and cheerful trail bike, a rickety Puch Fireblade, is 10 years old this year! How the hell has it survived so long?
Now overwintered and waiting patiently on its back in a Salzkammergut cellar. Only I can't get there dammit!
Question is: do I go on the chaingang tonight and try hang in for a little longer than last week, or do I go and do a club 10m TT, a little further afield?
At work atm in cycling gear, with the roadbike, ready to leave early to ride to the start of our chaingang...
TT would involve riding back home, get TT bike in the car and drive 45 minutes to start of TT...
I am on a TT roll atm, so quite fancy testing on a sporting course, rather than a flat... it will only be training... hmmmmm...
Mind, first RR on 9 May and first crit EVER on 16 May, so chaingang may be better training... hmmmmmm...
Given that I have just done an hour on the turbo on the patio in the sun it is only right that you do the thing that will hurt the most as this will be better for you:eek:;):D
Well, after a brief conflab with my secret training advisor, I have decided to do the TT. This will be better training for me... I am made to ride it one gear bigger than I would normally and am not allowed to feel remotely comfortable at any time... so Toff, yes, it WILL hurt! Most likely more than the chaingang, as with the way the legs are feeling I would probably get spat out of the back fairly soon...
You can sort your legs out. There are simple massage techniques Hann that you can do yourself which work amazingly well. Its surprising what a difference it makes.
Also before your Crit, keep your legs raised the night before and no excess walking.
You never see a Pro walking about :)
And before anyone edits the keeep your legs rasied quote im deadly serious.
The rest and recovery side of cycling is as important as the training.
Good luck
Off for over a week now so should manage some miles on the stead as well as on the hills :):):)
Weather looking quite good so far Daz :D
Planning wall to wall training really, not sure if there will be any racing......
Need to get some longer runs in as well as I'm up the Lakes with Andy in a couple of weeks for a bike + run recce!
If you get the bike sorted and are off early next week drop me a line if you fancy a good ride out.
Ohhhh, enjoy your week off Ady :)
