Fairyfeet, how about this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odNox...eature=related
Opening track from my favourite album, Victorialand.
I think this whole LP is smashing. So original and not one track the same as another, Elizabeth sounding amazing of course. My faves on Victorialand are Oomingmak closely followed by Feet-Like Fins. Floating craziness...
OK I'm in the mood now so I'm off to post some Cocteau-esque artistes...
Following on from a sound started by the Cocteau Twins, here we have;
Shelleyan Orphan - Southern Bess.
This LP Helleborine is worth a listen, 'tis a bit old now but still on itunes.

This dude is as real as they get. Down to earth Gawthorpe lad. His previous band toured the states with the Kaiser Chiefs as support. He deserves a little more recognition.
Two lovely songs for a cold and windy night....
Beth Orton - She Cries Your Name. Taken from the LP Trailer Park.

James Taylor - Fire & Rain. Taken from the LP Sweet Baby James.

I've had a lovely evening out in Saigon having beers and dinner with my friends. I got back to the hotel and took a seat in the bar. The singer asked if I'd like a request and I requested that he sing this. He thanked me then for being in the bar to hear him sing every night. The waitress said, 'Bacardi Gold and Coke, not too much ice, plenty of lime'. Maybe it's time to go...
This is pretty fantastic:

Marc Riley on 6 Music. As ever, worth the licence fee alone.:cool::closed:
I love the new Elbow album but is it just me or is there a hint of Peter Gabriel/early Genesis in the first few tracks?
Elbow are wonderful, "build a rocket boys" sound pretty epic. Only listened to it on spotify with adverts to destroy the albums flow but sounded pretty good.
Bit of Xavier Rudd anyone?
