Pretty much yes. I sometimes find it helps if I have a dry mouth to just get a small swig of water. I don't "need" it but it helps me feel more comfortable, which in turn makes me race better.

One of the best things about not drinking in a marathon is that at each drink station those in front of you - they have usually been in front of you for a few miles so you would recognize them if you saw them again - peel off to get a drink and YOU NEVER SEE THEM AGAIN! Result!
Another no drinking result!
Hi Steampig,
Here is the entry link to get on the reserve list. There are no entries or substitutions on the day. You will probably find out if you have a place about 4 weeks before the race.
Good luck in getting in. Hope to see you there!

I was dizzy, over heating, almost fainting and absolutely dying of thirst. I eventually staggered to a stream and threw myself in before jog trotting in to finish. And no I definitely didn't drink too much and nor did I have a drip or anything - if anything I'd run far too hard without having the distance/climb fitness to go with it. I sure as heck didn't over drink :)
Sounds like imminent exercise associated collapse rather than heat stroke Stolly. It sounds like you pushed yourself too hard on the day for your fitness level. Whilst I am sure you are correct when you say you did not drink too much, I doubt if drinking more would have prevented it.
Sorry for being a bit dumb :o!!! but where does the race start from  village? or town? area?
Thanks.
Horton in Ribblesdale..
Thanks dude, shows how much i know Doh!!!
Thanks Lou,
Just got myself on the waiting list.
Hmmmm.984 Entries...........75 on the waiting list............what are the chances of getting a place? Anyone know what the usual fall out for this event is?
Similar entries last year but only 685 started

Not sure if i will be able to do 3P race as been told to rest knee for few weeks from long stuff! gotta rest for week then start doin 2-3 miles twice a week if pain free. Not sure ill be able to do 3 p with no long runs! If i can get 10r 2 in ill try it.If i did give place up when is cut off point for sum1 to get it? Id rather someone have it than just not run!
Cheers
told me to rest from long stuff till easter, and only do 10-12 miles b4 then if ok, if i can maybe start doin long uns by 5th i could get 2 in and be ok.
Water at Birkwith, Ribblehad, Hill Inn and Sulber Nick + the becks that have been mentioned. I tend to take one of those small Tropicana bottles with water so I have it if I need it and it does come in handy and weighs only about 250g to be topped up as I go around. I also carry the nuun tablets with me and gels. I mix my nuuns as I go along.
I try to get some one at the Hill Inn to get me a Timothy Taylors ready for my arrival :)
It certainly helps believe it or not.
Hi
Still got a bad knee so not running at moment, would anyone like to buy my entry? you can swap upto 4 weeks before! Id like to run it but doubtful i can, I would rather someone get it and use it rather than not get used.
cost is £18
Thanks Peter
I did met him at Ilkley was gonna do it but hurt in warm up , he seems a nice lad! Gettin better but hurt walkin up stairs other day. Gonna have this month off and start slowly again, think BGR is doubtful now, mate doing it- if i cant do it i will run some legs with him. Gonna keep trying but , will only get about 10 training weeks in now b4 BGR- as got 2 week holiday in june. dont wanna get over this and injure it again by doing to much to soon.
Your training seems to be going well. Hope to see you on your attempt, Andy seems to think you will do it. Never been injured before, its frustrating. Good luck with training
Peter
last 2 long runs were
27mile 4k climb
19 miles 5.5k climb, was just starting to get going.
then been off for over 3 weeks. Gonna take it easy to start, see how i get on. will only do it if i ready, if leg not up to it i will just support mates.
We are Doing it for charity, so even if i not able to do in 24 hrs which is highly unlikely,I will still try and do it even if i have to do it in 2 days(30+ hrs) if my leg better. Will give me experience for future attempts, be good to do the legs etc, get a taste of the pace etc.
That sounds more realistic then, good luck with it. Hope the knee mends soon. Compression stuff helps me recover faster if that's any help to you. I find flight socks (£4.99 from Asda) have enough material to cover my calf and knee and give good compression for wearing either through the day at work or at night in bed depending on when I've been running and how I feel. They helped calm my knees down after a tough weekend (fast 5k race sat, 19.25m on road with 2700ft climb sun) after wearing them in bed last night, legs feel spot on now.
Where are you running this weekend? Just wanted to give a shameless plug to our new race! Come to Heptonstall on Sunday 20th March.
The race will be fantastic build up for 3 Peaks = specifically designed to fit in with 3 Peaks training diaries; B Long 3200 ft/15.5 mils; about 70% 3P distance/ascent and timed 5-6 weeks ahead. Some of the ascents are "stair case" killers on tired legs (Ingleborough!). Organised by bunch of CVFR and Tod Harriers, we're expecting well over 100 runners. Entry on the day - £5. See route on www.heptonstallfellrace.org.uk.
See you there?
Will be my first 3Ps this year - looking forward to the run but far more importantly... is there any kind of after party? What do people do about accommodation - is there camping in Horton?
Big marquee, a live band and a beer tent last year.
And BBQ BL !!
Was there? Must have been a few yards from the beer tent. Never saw it, but don't feel hungry after a long race anyway.
There's accomodation at the pub and some B&B's in Horton which you can get by googling. The camp site in Horton is relatively small and fills up very quickly most weekends with 3P walkers, let alone the fell race weekend so I suspect its already full. I think the pub down the road towards Settle at Helwith Bridge lets people camp in their 'sheep field' but failing that the camp site at Stainforth (Knight Stainforth Hall) a couple of miles nearer Settle is a good one.
Knight Stainforth Hall is a top campsite, great shower block, there's another campsite on the main road between Settle and Ingleton near Austick.

If anyone is looking for a Three Peaks entry Pm me....may not be able to do this anymore.
Thanks Vicci
Cant believe some jokers planned a Royal weddin on the day before the Three Peaks.............haven't they looked at the calender.Thar's a street party planned for the village now and yours truly is gona end up paralytic as usual, probably out till three in the mornin and feelin like death warmed up for the rest of the weekend.
30 days to go...aarrgghhhhh.....where did the last 12 weeks go?:w00t:
I'm getting to that familiar point of being worried I haven't done enough and yet it's too late to change it now. Last long run this weekend (doing Rombalds route again) and then a couple of short races between now and then :w00t:
Might see you out & about Rob (I will one day !). I'll be on the moors Friday p.m & Sat. a.m).
