nice one han
72miles at a steady 12mph (5-6000 feet of climb), foolishly sunburnt arms and a slightly sore bum.
20 miles and 1000' for me. New route that I think I'll be doing again.
Thanks Daz, getting there slowly :)
Well, Saturday's ride...
Had a cracking day at Whinlatter with three mates. Early start got us there by 1000. Warmed up with the Blue Quercus trail and then rode the South Loop of the Red Altura trail. Quick spot of lunch and then the North Loop of the Altura followed by a "cool down" blast round Quercus again.... then back in Chinley in time for curry and football. Really good, flowing and well built trails. Lots of interesting singletrack climbing as well as some cracking descents.
45 mile yesterday, quite enjoyable nice weather, done on my talon 2 with road tyres on
another ride home from chesterfield yesterday - giving a day total of 18miles.
Did anyone see Big Head take half the peloton down yesterday at the tour of swiss ??
no! but i saw on bike radar that the peleton staged a protest (delayed start) about it today.

He is an idiot !
This is what I call bikehandling skills :)

Biked to work 18 mile in 62 mins.
I think sub 60 is achievable this summer.
That is now a 2010 summer goal.
Well done Trevor
I said last year that Cavendish will make a lot of enemies within the peloton. His ethics on european cycling are odd.
But he certainly isnt an idiot by any means.
Sprinters by nature are aggresive souls. They have to be like this, but there is a limit.
His second big year isnt going to plan already and the pressure is building for him. He needs more friends in the peloton.
Lovely weather for a bike ride today. Went out toward the coast then to Scorton for lunch al fresco and then back via the Trough and lanes of the Ribble Valley. Great to be out on the bike with the sun belting down. Just short of 70 miles at 18 average.
Bike is a dream Daz, performance is down to the rider though! I think the tyres play a key part whatever the bike & components. There is no way I would bank over like I did today dropping through the Trough with cheap tyres on. Pro Race or Ultremos all the way. Same on the motorbikes - you need to trust your rubber and make sure you have the correct PSI for your intentions.
I can but dream of 18mph average!!! Just returned after a lay off so only averaging about 14-15mph but never get better than about 16mph avg. Crap or what!!!
Anyway, got my first MTB ride out tonight since my 3 month lay off. Not confident that I'll keep up with the lads (so they may get a bit cheesed off with me ;) lol) but it'll be a lovely night for it over the Yorkshire moors :D Looking forward to it in an insane sort of way!

Cocky Cav gets 'is comeuppance...or p'raps it should be go-downance?
What a horrific crash!:D
Racing snakes? On here? Nah, surely not? ;)
Did my first ever 4-up team time trial tonight, all womens team and it was great! Decided to keep all 4 of us together, which meant compromising on speed, but we worked like an oiled machine, communicating well, all four over the line at more or less the same time and... WON :) We seem to be Welsh women's team TT champs :) and some drinking money on top of that. Life doesnt get much better than this! Great evening on the bike in great company :)
Well, despite my lack of fitness, I actually managed to keep up with the lads last night and finished the MTB ride :D
2 hours of glorious sunshine and glorious views followed by a slap up meal. Doesn't get much better.
A happy bunny :D
nice one flops
to hanneke and team
llongyfarchion!
(i had to look that up)
Flopsy, sounds like a good one :)
Thank you ratfink, I had to look that one up too, my Welsh is very rudimentary :)
Hungry... why am I always hungry? Does anyone of you also find that cycling makes you more hungry than running?
And who is going to give my @rse a kick so I get back into running? Planning on doing 3 peaks CX again this year and it was time I started running again!
Both Cav and Hausler diverted off their line, think it is more or less 50/50 and apparently Hausler has admitted he was at fault... It is Cav's general attitude that isn't helping him :(
56miles 5000 feet out to small dale via mam nick, and back to shef via nearly wormhill, tideswell, litton, monsal head great longstone, froggat hill - average speed 12.3 mph, including waiting for cows :)
Are you doing an half ironman ?. It's just you cycled 56 miles thats all.
hiya mat - no i'm training for a 100 mile bike ride (sportive) - it's on the 4th july -eep!
You will be fine Ratfink :)
Good riding by Lance this week, looking stronger than last year for the TDF. Should be interesting. 2 weeks to go.
this thread has gone unusually quiet this week?
i will kick it off again to say I had a disappointing 10 mile TT at Levens on wednesday night with a 28.54. just could not get going against the head wind on the way out and did not seem to get much benefit from the tail wind i was expecting for the return
I did get my 30mile dales ride down to 1hr 38mins so knocked another minute off on Tuesday night. perhaps thats why my legs were dead on wednesday (and running Tebay and Settle Hills over the weekend?)
cheers han
i rode home from chesterfield on tuesday via horsley gate road climb to owler bar - but legs were still tired from sunday ride (and maybe monday swimming at which i am very poor)
accidently entered hathersage hilly (little) triathlon - think i'm going to swim breastroke though.
Maybe it's the heat Adrian? Well dusted my bike down this wednesday too, was short on time but there's nothing like having to rush back for the school run to make you pedal faster
23 miles done in 72 minutes the last 2 spent dodging school buses and traffic, pleased with 20 miles in exactly the hour - not completely lost it although couldn't have kept it up for another 20. Had the same problem here, chuffin head wind and never a tail one, plenty of cross wind though, glad I didn't have any deep rims on! Nice to be back on the bike after what's been far too long.
I think it has been windy everywhere!
I have been working and racing too mcuh to post on here :D
Did a two day stage race last weekend and did rather well :) Then went on to do a couple of 10m TT's, on Wednesday on my own and my time was disappointing :( but had frgotten my HRM and I definitely do not work hard enough without it! Did another, this time a 2-up, on Thursday, which went a lot better, even though it was very windy again :)
Off for a nice 3 hrs or so ride now, then work. No races this weekend, as I decided not to do the 100m tt I had planned before I decided to do the track champs at the end of July.
