Great photo's and thanks for the speedy results.
er if you were not so close that i wondered about your sexuality you would have been ok, i would say kiss my arse but i think thats what you were trying to do.
I mean my first race since august due to a re-occurence of my chronic fatiguey thing and some twat trys to mate with me. And you have to comment about the weight i have put on.
Glad you enjoyed the experience. The earth certainly moved for me ;)
great pictures and a really enjoyable race. I thought it was even more hairy than last year, at least last year you knew the ground was going to be hard!
does anyone have the actual distance of the race? I know it says 5 miles but I completed in 40:40 and it really didn't feel like 8 minute miles! maybe i'm better than I thought - I doubt it!
thanks to Dave & the Woodentops.
I think it's just over four miles, something like 4.2. - just tried one of the online mapping tools which gave around 2 miles one way.

Shminty in 4th place says he overshot a junction early on losing him 30secs whilst leading, but that the top 3 then pulled away.

Thanks for nice muddy race and great photos. :)
A really enjoyable afternoon out. I enjoyed overhearing two fellow runners discussing how they'd both ended up next to each other in the same waste deep bog and then how they were going to get out of it again. I'd just pulled myself out of a very simlar bog :D. Looking forward to the Auld Lang Syne!
My son & niece came back with mud splattered all over their faces. Apparently Dave was kicking it at the juniors as they wouldn't move back at the start ! Excellent.
Really enjoyed the race despite the shoulder first fall into a bog. Even better, daughter decided she didn't like the packet of 14 snowballs she won, and so swapped my curlywurly for them!
Proper results are up now, senior and junior http://www.woodentops.org.uk/index.php?topic=stoop
Barlick FR?
Website?
Application form?
I was curious too. Their web site doesn't seem to have made much of an impression on Google yet (early days) but with a bit of guesswork found this http://barlickfellrunners.org.uk/
More like 5-10 seconds. I always find it interesting that people only consider what they've lost rather than what they have gained. Had Mr Ian Holmes not shouted back the front runners he would have won the race because they were going the wrong way. Very sporting in my estimation and I acknowledge it. I also thank him for wearing his 'santa baby' costume which acted as a beacon for my whole race.
Races like this are proper cross country unlike Witton Park type affairs. It had a bit of everything and required numerous skills including gymnastic abilty. At one point I ended up doing the full splits for the first time in my life and was so surprised I almost forgot to get back up.:)
Dave's prize givings are great. I love chocolate prizes and my free entry to the Auld-Lang-Syne will bring back memories of that Usain Bolt impersonator-Al Fowler. Hey I hope he isn't doing it this year as he's getting good now and a defeat I'd never live down.:closed:
I hope you had a proper warm up before doing them splits.
Barlick fellrunners has just started, small club of around 20 members at the moment and Shaun ran for the first time under the name. Website hasn't been registered under google yet so if you put the address on the thread in you should be able to find it. Everything should be up and running by January 1st. Barlick is a town of about 12,000 people so a tad bigger than a hamlet. We will be organising 3 races this year as a club, weets, buckden and pendle cloughs. Barlick was chosen for the name because it comes under pendle and is also
in west craven but we didn't want to upset other clubs by having any of their names involved. We are currently looking at vest designs and these are to be voted at a meeting at the beginning of January. It's not a multi discipline club so we won't be paying affiliation to cross country and other events thus keeping membership costs down. Hope this clears it up for you all ladies and gents.
I think it was ady in accy that mentioned the hamlet. I was just clarifying to anyone that may not be from the area. Anyway where do you live now alf? Steam trains were a long time ago so I'm guessing you left barlick over 30 years ago?
