results now up

drop Bill Allan a line. He had me as a supervet man last night but has changed it now.
If any locals are involved in an orienteering club perhaps they could help by contacting Bill and explaining how Si would make all the checking and results so much easier and faster for him. I spoke to him last year so he knows a bit but we live too far away to loan Si stuff really.
Wow, some stunning results there. Congratulations to everyone.
maybe. I think a branch of DVO use the old gym for indoor winter training.
May God Bless you Marvin, you're right !
As already mentioned by others, this one always seems to be tough, but I always enjoy 'pushing the boundaries' along the route. It was my 12th since 1998. I dragged home in 8:20 and I have luxuriated in the post-race feeling of having been used up but not injured (I can hardly believe my good fortune). :w00t:
Barny and Will and 'Makeup Jen', it was good to chat along the way.
I'll be back next year to try for a sub-8 finish (they are so elusive).
I took a few pictures but no chance so far to upload them - this weekend hopefully. A hotel bar in Turkey is not the time or place (business travel again).
cycled to work today in the hope it would loosen mine up ready for the RAB this weekend. The are now not as stiff but still feel rather heavy and lifeless
Hi all,
there are some nice photos from the High Peak 40 on this website
http://www.jrseaton.co.uk/apps/wordpress/
You can puchase images by donating some cash to one of the runners who did the HP40 fpr charity - He was raising £5,000 for a bereavement suite at the Milton Keynes Maternity Unit.
There are some good pictures of the front of the field there, a sight I never get to see. Thanks for posting the link. Here's a few of mine from somewhat further back among the 'also-rans'. As I was attempting to 'put my foot down' for a good time I only allowed myself a few snaps at the checkpoints mostly, otherwise I would have been even slower by 30 seconds or so and I could have been accused of not trying.

Good pics as always Nick, even got one of me and the Crumblydowns sneaking off to the gypsy encampment after feeding our faces:thumbup:

Nice pics, Nick - one of me looking a bit edgy in the hall just before heading off to the start!
Steve, someone was eyeing you up suspiciously as you left. Do you think he suspected where you were going and what you had eaten?
Rich, you did pretty well considering you were feeling as well as looking edgy.
Could be someone off here, he said hi to me as we passed, he could be eyeing up Crumblydown, he's far prettier than me, or Mrs. Crumblydown who's far prettier than me and Crumblydown put together:wink:
6.45 Rich, cracking time considering you didn't feel 100%
How are the legs, Rich? They must have recovered for a good blast this weekend?
I've just uploaded a brief and belated report.
Unfortunately not - did a very laboured 8 miles along a bit of the Viking Way on Saturday and a not much better 6 miles yesterday. Just no strength in legs at all - no energy - but RHR is also a bit up so I think I'm still a bit "virally" - spent the rest of yesterday eating so hopefully that will restore energy and this week can be good training. Got Caesars Camp in 4 weeks so need to recover fully for that!
Take it easy Rich. Rest and loads of sleep for a full recovery.
Thanks Nick - yes, that would be the sensible option and for once in my life I think I'm going to listen to my body and my own advice!
Anyone out there doing this, this year? Has the route changed or are the maps above still current?
Plus, does anyone know how to get hold of the organiser? Somebody entered for me and we've never had confirmation that I've been entered. We have both emailed him (Bill Allan) several times to no avail. Cheque has been cashed, though.
There'll be quite a few of us doing it, me included. The route's unchanged as far as I know - it's been the same for years apart from the short section where the right of way was in dispute. I got sent my race number in late May, & the race details on 8 August, both by email. That said that the email address from which the details were sent wasn't monitored ([email protected]), & said you should contact Bill via the website contact page, which has [email protected]. Which did you use?
Im doing it but trotting around with the Mrs.....it was 40 miles for a 40th birthday present and thought it to be apt!! well at least i did anyway ;-)
Think I will be doing this next year. Done Bradwell, then Skiddaw and Bullock Smithy so not sure legs will take any more.
I am going.
as for your entry- take proof cheque is cashed and turn up on day? I am sure they always do some entries on the day so it is not likely to be full
Thanks all. I think that has to be my strategy, Karen. Thanks. I did use the one on the contact page, Andy, but still nothing.
Should have a more detailed peak at the route at some stage I guess seeing as I paid me money. It looked a nice route from my first look though
Have done this the last 2 yrs and really enjoyed it. Hopefully will be back again, Achilles willing
Thanks to the organisers and marshals for last weeks highpeak 40, its a great event with excellent organisation.
I had a bad fall halfway round which left me with bleeding knees & hands, all the marshals were great - making sure I was OK to continue and checking if I needed anything. All the other runners were also really supportive again making sure I was OK & asking if I needed anything. It's this kind of support that make these ultra events so good!
Discovered at the finish that my knees etc were the least of my worries as I'd actually broken my right forearm without realising! So no Round Rotherham for me!
That's what I call tough as nails; ran the HP40 with a broken arm and never realised? Shame you'll have to miss the Round Rotherham, BingleyAd.
Unusually for me I had a fall as well. I blame slightly higher speed than usual and a rock that jumped out at me (you known the ones). It was on that rocky descent before the final climb to the Rushup Edge checkpoint. Luckily my drinks bottles cushioned my landing before I ended up skidding down the rocks on my left shoulder blade. I came to rest upside down, waiting to see which way gravity would take me. I was expecting a full somersault but stopped just short.
