The individual categories are Sen, U23, Vet 40, 50, 60, 70 in Male and Female
The U18s also take part in the senior race.

I was up there yesterday on the South side that will get the most sun and I went up through the fields from barley to the summit and back the same way - no problems running. I don't know what the big end side is like though?Quote:

Yet again another fantastic effort in the organisation of this great race thanks again. Only one downside to the day was the Todmorden Harrier, I think I caught his name being Wayne, running past a long line of us patient runners waiting in a queue for the stile and pushing in at the front. He was asked by several of us as to what he was doing and even his own club mates told him to get back but he just looked round and went over, it was an act of pure arrogance and very selfish of him. I hope his club mates have had a word with him as it could reflected badly on his club. I also think it was good of the clayton runner to report this to the organiser who brought it to everyone's attention at the prize giving as we don't need this type of arrogance in our sport and surely the name and shame approach will help stop future occurrences.

I've been thinking about this. I've done the Full Tour the last 2 years and they stay on the road a little longer and go through a gate to get the other side of the wall that runs up to Buttock from the reservoir.Quote:

That route would be better Richard. You could also go past that lane and go up the last climb on the stan Bradshaw route.
That's the same gate that was locked at the Stan Bradshaw and Saturday's race, the kissing gate is next to that gate. And there's a new fence/gate next to the house at Buttocks, that was locked too, that's why we had to use the stile to the right of the house. The main problem is that the gates are locked so acquiring a key for each gate will be the answer. I think the race organiser, David Bailey, is on with that.Quote:

There is a serious racing issue here with the stile or gates other than a bit of joshing.
The ladies are integrated in the mens race and OK at the front end the men chasing the top 10 - 20 places are least affected, but by the time you get down to the first few ladies the queue is already forming.
If you are male athlete behind another male athlete, the delay caused by the stile is a few seconds per place, easily made up. But if you are a lady in the queue with 10 men between you and your rival in front, you lose a bucket load of time.
If it takes 3 secs per runner to get through the style, with 340 runners that's around 17 mins for everyone to get through the stile - and let's say at that point the front end is separated from the back by 10 mins, the back marker will potentially lose 7 minutes.

where TL=Time lost in seconds and P = your position at the stile.
Mrs WP reckoned she queued for 4 minutes.
So if there was 15 places and 15 seconds between 2 ladies at the stile going up, that could be 35 seconds coming away from the style.
So the funnel effect stretches out the time gaps very early in the race making it very difficult for the ladies to pull back through the field.
I know David is going to try and sort this for next time, but I think the Full Tour gate and accessing the key to that is the answer as the old double gate is almost as bad as the stile.
