Sorry guys im going to have to pull out of this :(
Got an interview at UCL and then am gonna head to shropshire for a Long Mynd reccy
Have fun you lot
Happy running
Toying with the idea of splashing out for a B&B this yr (living the dream!). Which B&Bs have others gone for, and how much?
Think you got mixed up with the number of sleeps and the dates. Xotf is 17th dec 'we' decided the best bet was the sat directly before Christmas as the vintage year of 2007 being the 23rd was cutting it that little bit too fine!!
Errr if you want to go Amex has posted all the relevant info
Softlad... You on for 1 night or 2? I'd get ringing around direct to b&bs as they can be funny about just 1 night stays...dont bother with the 3rd party thing youll get more luck avoiding that route!
Just the one, fair point. I'll get on the blower tomorrow.
I've got the details of a few places to try. I'm gonna call them tonight, but before that, who's hosteling? And have you all tried to get an XOTF suite sorted?
If the company's that good, I might not even bother with the B&B/hotels.
*Getting very excited!!*
I am hostelling, as I am a pauper :p
I'm hosteling also, on the Saturday night, although mainly because I couldn't find somewhere that would do just the one night:(
[QUOTE=southernsoftie;377281] but before that, who's hosteling? And have you all tried to get an XOTF suite sorted? QUOTE]
I,m plannining on contacting Hostel we were in last year (Denton House) to see if they have room, I will ask about a suite :D for our lot but they were a bit cheesed off last year when a fair few didn't turn up!!!! and did not inform the hostel!
I stayed there in summer too, and they asked for deposit up front to avoid this.
Will post info as I get it......has anyone else booked in yet....and mentioned XOTF
Auld Ken
Hi
Yes i'm in Denton House, booked in for the Saturday, I'd be on for swapping to a suite no probs, (if that would be possible?) anyhow I've got a bed there, they've taken small deposit and have email confirmation:)
cheers.
Hi,
I've had chat with Mick at Denton Hostel and booked me sell in for the Fri & Sat evening.
He has put me in the warmest room, Skiddaw, I have told him a few of us are attending XOTF and he says he will stick us all in the same dorm if we want.
Ken (NB)
Andy (H ) Sat, only
Mark (DD??)
Also Han.......if ok with you???? He says its the warmest and as its quite large you would fit in there with a bit of privacy if you wish.....no problem though if you want to be boring in your own room tho'
He said there were a couple of others booked but I didn't recognise the names!!
Ken
Hi Ken
Cool, sound's good to me, cheers, I'll be there:)
Also thinking of going up for a day out before then, any ideas on a shortish trot out, (weather dependent) the friend I'm with can't run a long way etc but she's ok,
Maybe around 7 or 8 miles ish? is there a nice circular route or something? that would be great, I'll investigate anyhow, also need to find a nice place to get a meal.
Thanks and see you for the XOTF :)
Andy.
Thanks for that Steve, I'll think about that and I hope your on the mend.
I'm looking at going up for one day, the week before the XOTF.
Andy.
Xmas On The Fells
is getting ever near.
18 sleeps to go for
run dancing curry & beer.
Dog and Gun at seven
old friendships to re-forge
Then nip across the road
to meet fatty in the George.
Oven Gloves Derby Stef DJ,
Han, Softy even auld Emmilou,
Be great to catch up with
MG (and her hubby too)
Thanks again to Amex who
shops on line for beetroot?!?
To anyone not yet decided
Come along, its gonna be a hoot
Excellent, will let you know what I go for. If I hostel it, I will add myself to the XOTF crew. Absolutely loved the poem too!:D
Don't want to get you all excited, by XOTF suite I was just asking whether Mick was sticking us all in the same room like last year. No other perks (but what more could you ask for?;))
Amex - The week before OMG you could stay the whole week and attend the Loft every night now that would be a record that would never be beaten you would become a god of XOTF
Ha, now there's a challenge, every night, no problem:)
16 sleeps!
Torn between the Lincoln House B&B and Denton House. Only reason I'm hesitating was that I didn't like having to wait until I got to the services on the way home for breakfast following last year in the hostel, and after all that, the service station brekkie weren't that nice.
So any reports on Lincoln House (I got the name by trawling through this thread, so presumably someone's stopped there)? Is it worth it?
Either that, any fine Breakfastmongers in Keswick I can hit before hitting the road that might sway me towards stopping at Denton House?
Yours, indecisively...
So tempting, and yet...they do not like single nighters. Bet they reckon on me being a dirty stopout, and bringing back some floozy! How very dare they.
Sounds good, ta Emms. Denton House it is!! Roll-over Nee Bother, make room for a littl'un!!:D:D
