Cheers, Daz. Not sure what we're doing for a tent, yet. I'd better speak to the rest of the team, I suppose.

Really looking forward to this event, just hope my achilles sorts itself out in time.
Re food and water- There was plenty of food and water at each CP last year. I'm going to carry bottles this year and fill them up as I go round. The tubes on bladders sometimes freeze plus its extra weight.
So you just take enough to cope for a few hours, not the full 9-14 hrs or whatever?
The empty water bottles is what we do on long fell races and ultras, think we'll do the same.
Its hard to know how long it will take, all of us are quite experienced ultra runners/fell runners and Mountain Marathoners. Normally I'd have a clue of a target time but for this I'm at a total loss.
Main aim is to complete, enjoy it, and finish within 12 hrs, but I don't know how feasible that is, especially the 'enjoy it' bit!

Was that your team I saw recceing HPM (running over Bleaklow) on Sunday afternoon? If so, you picked a lovely day for it!
Ian,
You sound a bit anxious! Aim for around 10:30. You could do better than that. If there is soft snow on the ground add at least one hour. In addition to previous advice, carry your own basic racing food and a small (half litre) bottle. Plenty of things to eat at Moscar and water to refil your bottle; likewise at Snake. Remember it is night and usually very cold and you do not drink much! There are some great students manning the wild checkpoints and they will give you a hot drink if you ask nicely. Hot blackcurrant juice has been my favourite in previous runs.
With four in the team there is always a good chance that at least one will struggle at some stage so be kind to the slowest member of the team and don't go off too fast.

No, quite laid back about it in many ways, as its just a distance run for me really, and something I've wanted to experience for a few years, but not a race I'm particularly targeting.
We've a strong team I reckon, all fairly laid back and I'm fairly sure will react well to slow members, getting lost and any other issues.
I think this is the first race where I've got little idea of what to expect, how much you see others in the race, how your pace is affected at night over the moors, how the navigation differs at night etc.
Looking forwards to it, but realise its going to be a long night.
Hi Iain
I introduced my self at the Trial last week
I've not done this before but have done other night runs and have run large portions of this route regularly.
Unless there is a drought or a hard frost I think times will be down this year as it is very very wet on the watershed at the moment. You can't run as fast in the dark so if you were thinking on time over the known distance I would add about 20-30% to that time to be realistic. The navigation from Swains Head to Bleaklow Head i would say is the crux after that it's just keeping going. Went past the Outer edge BM earlier this week and he's looking very hungry so beware that section also.;)
Does any one disagree with this...?
