DT thanks for this.
Got this, just wondered if a map was about. Easier to follow for me!!
Cheers
I second that!
I'm thinking the "Then ESE thru bog to standing stone" section might be a tad damper than it was last year!:w00t:
Here's my Garmin Connect details from last year: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/163674716
You are right of course socks, though in my defence I just displayed sheep-like behaviour and followed all the 25+ runners who were ahead of me at that time!:o
**For others reading this thread the 'cut across the field' was all on PROW's so no breaking of the country code was involved!
Thanks guys, appreciate your replies and advice.
Looking forward to it.
Cheers
Might be over for this...looks a good one!
How many refreshments posts are on the route?
Printed off my maps today. Was going to do them for the Woldsman the week after too and discovered I hadn't entered. Eek! Quick form filled in. Hopefully not full yet.
erm cannot rememeber exactly but one at dam in washburn.
Some in house up on moor.
Agaiin at end of Bolton priory bit
Loads of cake after you cross the main road
Some before the big beamsy hill
some after boggy moor towards end
Note that there are no drinks at the top of Rocking Hall moor just cake & stuff!
I noticed there is entry on the day but not guaranteed. I have emailed organiser to check on current entry number but I can't find a contact number on the entry form in case I don't get a reply to email, anyone got one ? I have Coledale on Saturday so just intend to treat this as a long jog to keep my mileage up. I managed to find a map and the nav looks straightforward, just hope I can get in on the day.
will look out for you and say Hi. I also will be seeing it as a long day out rather than a race- in fact I need to add 3+miles to it at some point (ideally before it) to add it to my challenge
Thankyou for the replies.
Hoping to be down for an EOD, if I don't over cook it at Pendle tomorrow! :)
Same here hursty, looking at doing dungeon ghyll and hopefully something still in the tank for blubberhouses.
All-runnable makes me smile, especially when applied to routes I struggle to walk :o However, the Blubberhouses route is pretty much all-runnable. The biggest climb (Beamsley Beacon) is around 60% of the way round so save a bit on the day, especially if you're racing the day before :closed:
Pity MT and DT. It's looking like a good day for it, I hope.
May even take my camera and concentrate less on running.
Have a good time, all. There's a dirty big rock sticking up out of the muddy path just after you pass Blubberhouses cricket club (having crossed the A59). You'll probably notice a body print in the mud immediately after it, do me a favour and swear at it will you?
No prizes for guessing where I was last night.
Ouch! Hope you aren't too bad Martyn. Sounds close to where I fell on the 'flat' muddy path heading back to Blubberhouses/Fewston car park after a loop around Thruscross Res last weekend.
Looking forward to seeing the pics DinoF - don't forget to enjoy the food too!
Thanks to all involved with today's blubberhouses, we were blessed with lovely weather which made it all the better. Cheers to the runners who helped with the route finding.
any garmin stats? mine was kind enough to die after 18 miles with the added bonus of not even recording what I had covered.
Mine clocked 23.98 mile, glad it wasn't 25 mile, I was shattered at the end.
23.68m 2835ft on mine egor
My first '25' and a good day for it.
I didn't really know what to expect as I only decided to do it last week. One of the highlights though was Bolton Abbey beautifully lit in the morning light. I recognised some of the later route from doing the Round Hill race a couple of times but I relied on some 'old sweats' I was running with for a time to do most of the navigation until Timble when I was on my own and had to get out the instructions.
mine nearl got to 24 (23.9) which meant although I thought I had done my extra miles before the race I had to go back and do some more afterwards!
Great day for it tho and nice to catch up with some friends
Just caught you as you were finishing Karen, nice run in with the the thorn, just about to tuck into me stew at end when Tindersticks [i think] burst in explaining size of what he left to lighten the load ;)
great route great day out
Thanks, ill add a mile or 2 as i took a wrong turn coming of rocking stones:closed:
Hello Headless, no it wasn't me I timed in at 3.39hr.....hello Dogruf, I blame it on all the biscuits, I can't resist them.
Yep.LDWA good value as usual. I ate 2 flpajack, 2 cake, 2 pieces of orange and then had stew and pudding plus countless cups of tea!
Nice to see you Dogruf and others
A few photos of the event are scattered between the words in my blog here
