Ian - if you're sweeping, I guess you'll be seeing a lot of me!

Re: Grin 'N' Bear it 2010
Thinking the bog monster could be fairly peckish if the forecast rain arrives this week....
Will most likely head out though, I've been missing the Outer Edge recently :)

Yes there's plenty of room
You can run the long route but the race is the 16 miler, I'll be sweeping the race.
But you should be up with me by the time the race starts. I'll see you all then.

oh great, this means I have to start at 8am? :w00t:

Re: Grin 'N' Bear it 2010
Looks like me & Mrs Stagger will be gossiping our way around this one :D
IDP, thanks for the MM file but can't get it to work :o (I am a bit of a computer numpty) Not to worry though as have found your link to the route descriptions & am going for highlighter on map option, much simpler
So, if we want to run (slooooowly) the long walkers route are we still on for an 8am start?
-
Re: Grin 'N' Bear it 2010
I'm going to run (very slowly) round the long route starting at 10am.

I still fancy the 16-miler*, & it's my weekend off, but SWMBO hasn't given me a 'day-pass' yet, and I need one for the 'cross' on Sunday
(plus, I'm possibly entering the 'Ackworth Road-Runners 5-mile XC-Race' in the morning, before the 'cross)

So, I guess I'm still on the 'undecided' list

Sorry Socks but i think there is a small breakdown in comunication.
Long course starts at 0800 If people want to walk, run, hop, skip, jump, pogo round the long course(don't reccomend this), so be it, but its technically the long walk so it starts 0800. The reason being that some of the early checkpoint marshals have to be elsewhere 2-3 hours later.
Short course starts at 0800
Runners course starts at 1000
This is the race route
Family Route starts at 1100
I agree that perhaps it should say Long Start and Race Start to be clearer, I'll make sure this is changed for next year.
I'll send you a PM to Confirm.

Re: Grin 'N' Bear it 2010
To try and make the timing of the events flow smoother. All courses except the running event will finish at Crow Edge Community centre.
Only the running event will finish at the last road crossing opposite WMRT headquarters access lane. My white VW camper will be parked just inside the gate and all running course competitors will be recorded at this point. This does NOT mean people running the long route you will need to cross the road, carefully, go down the access lane to WMRT HQ and then cross the fields back to Crow Edge Community centre where you will need to register the fact you are back.
There you are, clear as mud. (:

Cheers PB, it is appreciated. BTW, has Tara or Elaine rang you about ordering some more beer? If not I'll give them a nudge. See you saturday!

My afternoon job today, spent all morning splitting wood for the fire.
No this year I'm running sweep, I wanted to race round and show you youngsters a thing or too but alas if I want to run Tanky's

Re: Grin 'N' Bear it 2010
the notes mention food at checkpoint D (Lasche) - do we know what that might be?

Re: Grin 'N' Bear it 2010
Ian, if you're sweeping the race, who's standing watch over the bogmonster?
-
Re: Grin 'N' Bear it 2010
Mrs Stagger has all day to play out and you want them to be on the line for 8am.
Whats up with you southerners can't you sleep.
Don't worry about marshalls, she'll come home when she needs feeding.
Rescue ale, now thats a tasty beer, just managed to get my hands on a brace after Glossop moor.
Went down a treat:thumbup:

It should be a big Bloke called Debs, Yeah you heard right, Actually it's his initials but every one calls him that so say hello. I've given him instructions about the Bogmonster and wher to position himself. He will have a throw line should it be required ;)

then surely starting at 8.00 means she gets to make the most of it.
Best make sure Mrs S has some spare cash with her, then she can treat you to a case for letting her play out:w00t:

I take it you'll have some crates of MR ale along with you then? Might be tempted....
Hope there's something a bit more, errm, "sporty" scran-wise at Lasche. Last year I didn't fancy tucking into a Ginsters sausage roll en route to give me the extra endurance "edge"! :D
-
Re: Grin 'N' Bear it 2010
No playing out for me & the spotty collie dog after all  Have got a bit of a dodgy foot niggle, it doesn't seem to like shorter runs so have decided against testing it out on a long one. Have fun. Forecast looking quite good :)
-
Re: Grin 'N' Bear it 2010
Shame T&C (and spotty dog) - one less for the Plodding Posse http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/...sad_smiley.gif

I have printed out my route directions and map sections (highlighted in a fetching pink) so am All Systems Go
seesyall bright 'n' early tomorrow http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/...epy_smiley.gif

Ian
Just been reading the route descriptions on the link you posted
Has the “church” artwork been reinstated in the woods? It was not there last year but is still in the route description for this year.
Last year I was that preoccupied with looking for the non-existing artwork I ran straight through the woods before realising my mistake:mad::o
D’oh!

Honest answer is I don't know as I've not run that bit this year. I was going to go out with Nicky but something came up.
However the instructions are a guide and you do have a map, plus if you ran passed it last year you'll know where you are going...:)

Re: Grin 'N' Bear it 2010
Thanks for all the info here, can't resist a long hobble so I'll be at the 8.00am start for the long route - that'll be two of us in bright green fell pony vests then. .... I'll be the bloke at the back, probably being swept up later in the day :D
-
Re: Grin 'N' Bear it 2010
Will have a trot around the long route I think, if I can get there for 8. Wore fluo green last year (my avatar is going up Cut Gate) so maybe another showing of the pink is due.

Is it going to be a turbo powered trot like last year?
