I would not want to be the doctor who signed his sick letter .....

I have decided to take a leaf out the cycling team's book (and Ronnie O'Sullivan's) and "box my chimp" when I get back to running again. I will try it out when I am preparing for Wasdale next year and see how I get on :D
No idea what 'boxing your chimp' will entail Alf :)
And can I just say that I am now completely fed up with Nicky Campbell's (radio 5 live) effervesant gloating about Team GB's brilliantly brilliant brilliance and just how crap everyone else, other than the completely brilliant Team GB, is. Feeling proud is one thing but he has totally lost the plot :)
I stopped listening to 5 Live when Nicky Campbell joined - can't stand him.
Whatever floats your boat Hes :D

All joking apart, that's interesting stuff Alf. I have a really annoying great big chimp that I'm always battling with. Nearly got the better of me before the Fellsman but I distracted it pretty well before Borrowdale, just a little monkeying about on the startline not helped by talk of blood trails on scree...;)
I feel an e-mail coming on to our Aussie friends (and keen cyclists), congratulating them on having nearly as many gold medals as Yorkeshire. They will feel so proud of their sporting nation!
Decent interview with Brailsford on the BBC tonight.
He's a top bloke. I'd love to see him try and influence our ageing geriatric cross country group down at Rochdale Harriers though :w00t:
Is John Inverdale getting more orange by the day? Is he turning into David Dickinson ??
I am impressed with the open water swim  2 hours! It puts my wild swim adventures to shame. Loved the way the coots were racing the swimmers :D
Come on Keri-Anne !!
Tough luck Keri-Anne .04 second away from Bronze after a 10k swim. Must be the toughest event in the Games.
Totally missing the point again. Try to check out this performance

For all you consumate bike handlers out there, it aint nothing compared to this, watch and respect.
I'm off to watch a lttle girl batter someone :w00t:
Yes a 62 second lap at the end of a 30.20 10km. Totally unheard of prior to the EPO era. Even when Kristiansen set her great 30.13 I doubt she ran the last lap much faster than 70 seconds.
The thing is Danbert over the past 20 years you've grown accustomed to performances made possible by drugs, so naturally you regard my comments as strange. All I can suggest is to look back at pre 1993 footage of Women's races and compare them to the Chinese/ post Chinese performances of 1993. If you do you'll see what I mean.
...and she did (though I couldn't watch:rolleyes:) !
Well done Nicola http://i592.photobucket.com/albums/t...bit/woohoo.gif
The problem with the Olympics is it has no spirit. A British cyclist deliberately falling onto the track because he doesn't like the start (I assume with the backing of Danbert's friend, Mr Brailsford). A loaded dice triathlon in which a sacrificial animal is introduced to act as a pace maker. Dodgy Tour De France riders with a higher ranking of suspicion than Dr Tool's friend - Lance Armstrong - winning gold medals. 15 year old girls and huge men pile driving up and down the pool, one race after the other. Several races where cheats are reinstated to perform just as fast as their drug taking days. And an official who tells us in a defiant voice "they're clean."
Oh and former athlete-presenters who clearly know what's going on but aid and abet the "they're clean" brigade.
What the hell is going on?
After that Rant I could do with a cuppa. Emm.....get the kettle on or I'll post another cartoon!
YESSSSSSSSSS one of the best boxing matches I have ever seen, brilliant. She demolished her arch nemesis. Come on Leeds get the gold paint out.
Lance just telephoned me he liked it too, said he appreciates boxing after his advertisement for Nike :w00t:
I seem to remember that no time was given to the 1500 metres ceremony, Cram clearly stated he didn't understand what was going on. I think that is as fair as it can be. The boxing and the equestrian events were commendable to the highest order.
The cycling as far as I am concerned and from the experience I have had of being at the velodrome and meeting the guys and watching them train, albeit before Sir was Sir are absolutely to form except to an untrained eye. (Chris came out of that bend on the track looking like he was trailing, but remember the added distance on the bank, as in staggered starts).
I for one will take away from these Olympics something that will be positive because there hasn't been much else to be poitive about with the economy and the trouble in Syria. I will not be engaging in any petty arguments, as I said before 'it is easy to criticise from the armchair and without any idea of what it takes to be at that level'.
Anyway as a result of watching it (ha even the News has been moved, wow) I have regained some real drive to push myself back to almost full fitness on the bike and I'm renewing my membership to my old club. I'll even be trying to get my 10k down to sub 30 minutes :w00t:
As long as it fits in with my work of course.
Enjoy, only a few days to go and don't forget to tune in at 8.55 pm tonight, we had Allyson last night what does tonights have in store.
:)
Comiserations to Lynsey Sharp, she was so upset, i just wanted to give her a cuddle.
That Bolt's a shy retiring type, isn't he? ;)
As no-one's yet mentioned the greatest ever 800m runner (& race) - awesome World record tonight by David Rudisha:thumbup:....but just as awesome are the fact that 2nd & 3rd place runners are 18 & 17 respectively!
I thought the BBC showed they can do considered and interesting debate on sport tonight, they should get Michael Johnson on MOTD next season in my opinion;)
Lewis and Jackson are feeble!...and Linekers a joke, but I assume that debates been had!?
Is it a FIX???
We can have 3 runners from a country in the 200m sprints
BUT
Only one cycling sprinter.
Is it cos we is good at it???
Bit of a shame that due to a fell race I missed Bolt doing his thing tonight. I thought of him as I slogged through heather and bog....didn't make me go any faster though :)
