Some of us only do pretentious. Cinemoi.tv pour moi.

The Arm Hacking scenen in 127 hours has been really overhyped. It is nothing worse than you would get in any 18 rated action / horror film. I think people are a bit disturbed by it because the guy had to actually do it. The scene is only a couple of minutes but it actually took him over an hour to do the deed so to speak.
Agree that Audrey Tatou is very likeable
I commend lovefilm. I have just rented Visconti's Conversation Piece (or if you prefer Gruppa di Famiglia in un Inferno) from 1974 which I have never seen despite a lifetime of going to movies.
"visually rich, resonant, fluid and sympathetic".
Of course in those days movies were made for adults in contrast with today when they are aimed at 12 year old Americans.
The Kings Speech.
Highly recommended.
I tend not to like Colin Farrell films as he usuually plays the foppish toff type character, but he plays a cracking role in this.
Go see it.
I bought 'Lives of Others' and when my mother visited decided it would be a good film for her to watch, forgot about the prostitute scene (albeit 30 sexonds). She stormed out without giving it a chance, as it develops into a classic, sensitive film. (ah the youth of today!!!).
I watched it again with someone who appreciated it.
The Social Network - I thought I would like it when I found out Aaron Sorkin did the screenplay and I wasn't disappointed. Justin Timberlake can actually act a bit as well :D
I watched the first half hour of Prince of Persia the other night. I'll try to sum it up in a film critic stylee
"The best character development since Scooby Doo"
"If you only watch one film this year with your eyes and ears covered, this is the one"
"Missable"
"Unbearable for the whole family"
Good review Noel :D
I watched inception last night, don't know what everybody has been banging on about. I was expecting to be thoroughly confused but followed it pretty easily. It's more complicated to try and explain it to somebody than watch it, I did enjoy it though. Very good film
Once
BBC2 now
Well...I was supposed to see the Kings Speech tonight but it was sold out so I saw 127 Hours instead! I don't think the scene is overhyped, it is really gruesome and stomach churning but also incredibly well done and believable. I think you are right, the fact that it is based on a true story is probably why everyone is making such a fuss. I had to close my eyes and one of my friends was close to passing out (and he is a man in case you are assuming we are a bunch of 'girls') but I don't think it was gratuitous and I think the film is excellent. I probably won't be rushing to see it again but I am glad that I stomached it and would recommend it.
'Tomorrow when the war began' I have watched again tonight. Absolutely brilliant film, ends on a great cliffhanger. So much so I went and found all 7 books and read them in a week because I couldn't wait for the next film in 2012. (Books are better than the film by the way, as always.)
The film isn't out in the UK until 15th of April. Was out in Australia last August and a copy became available on the internet.
Definitely would recommend watching it to anyone, well anyone who likes Action/Adventure films.
I watched Sherrybaby the other night. Great performance by Maggie Gyllenhaal. A difficult film to watch, however well made it was, with a not very attractive subject of drug addiction and another one I wont mention as that is the turning point of the film from the viewers perspective.
Touching The Void
Film 4 now.
Watched Kick-Ass last night, brilliant.
Having watched many of the brilliant Coen brothers films, I expected an Epic. A cast of good, bad and ugly characters and a once upon a time in the west storyline it should have been a great for it's genre. IT will remain unforgiven, with it's hamlinesque penultimate scene, it's poor soundtrack and not a swearinger word uttered throughout. I hereby re entitle it 'TRUE SHIT'.
Got Syriana, and the hangover lined up for tonight. Been wanting to see the hangover for a while. And Syriana's one of the wife's recommendations. Anyone seen it? Hope it's good, i think she's just thinking of films to watch to slow down my progress in watching the entire Steve Mcqueen back catalogue!
Today's movie was....
of course....
BEDLAMITES!
and a reet good watch it was too!
That Holmes bloke was way behind. Don't know why Stagger rates him so highly????
I've got to the bit with the carrot
Change down man...find your neutral space
Another thumbs up for Syriana. George Clooney, other than the Oceans... vanity projects can't put s foot wrong in my eyes.
Watched Jarhead while off sick this week. Very good film. Highlights the monotony of war very well.
Le grand bleu. Besson's first film in english, and for me his best. Been a long time since i originally seen it, picked it up on blu-ray and it's still as special as I remember. If you're gonna watch it make sure you track down the original, and not the horrendous re-dubbed into french version.
Anyone seen Girl with a dragon tattoo and the two other films that follow em, any good?
I have finally watched Dr. Zhivago having had it from lovefilm since January. Amazing film and well worth the wait.
I'm on a (nightmare) visit to darkest Coventry at the minute and, just to make it even more 'fun', we went shopping at Birmingham Bullring Centre yesterday. On the positive side I bought the blu-ray version of the Big Blue folowing a recommendation from a friend and will hopefully be back home later tonight watching it. Also got Leon on blu-ray while I'm at it - my DVD version is scratched :)
Posted on a borrowed coventryite's lap top
Tonight's movie...
The King's Speech
I've really struggled to watch films lately, several have just been tedious dross. Not sure why, but this one held my attention. It's a simple story of boy meets girl causing a constitutional crisis...
Highly recomended. Flapjack rating 9/10.
Badlands
cool indeed DT, one of my faves
watched Made In Dagenham the other night - excellent http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/.../thumbs_up.gif
The Navigators (2001) - a Ken Loach film about the breaking up of British Rail and the effects on the workers. Very good film, I enjoyed the humour and learned a bit about the way that Railtrack works or more to the point doesn't work!
