Thanks for the Junior results, we had a good turnout on Saturday for Clayton, hoping to make it bigger every year.
We'll see you again at Widdop, I've put it in our junior series so should get some over to the Packhorse for that one.
Andy.
Good we'd have been very thin on the ground without Clayton and Bingley juniors on Sat so thank you. Hopefully more rounded numbers at Widdop as it doesnt clash with junior champs race.

Re: midsummer madness races
Its getting preciously close to the time this thread got a bit of a bump what with it being midsummer next weekend and all.
Whose in and whose helping this years entry lists to be records? It promises as always to be a master calss of organisational skills from the one and only BillJ so why not turn up and have a crack at the series and make the sleepless nights of worry and planning hes had worthwhile.

Re: midsummer madness races
I'll be coming along to the Wicken Whizz & Tom Tittiman. Would love to do all Reservoir Bogs as well, but even though I have a compass, so far I've not used one against a map. I can read maps no problems, it's just putting a compass against it.
Is it preety easy to navigate with or can anyone recomend any books/guides?

The navigation is not too difficult. More route choice than fine navigation.
Thanks for the kind words Amex and CCR !

You really should do it, these races are so much better when you do them all. I'd say this is just about the perfect race to build your skills. If you can read a map already you're sorted. Just use the compass to keep the map pointing in the right direction, forget about all that reading bearings stuff.
Can't wait for the weekend, hopefully my cold will have shifted by then...

Cheers, Your right I have no excuses!, just fear of navigating, suppose I have to bite the navigation bullet sometime :p

You have to do all three. Dont be put off by the word navigation there will be pretty much most of the field following the same line (right or wrong)and a few others sneaking about but you'll have no problem getting round as long as you dont follow a red and white vest as it could be Smithies.

Re: midsummer madness races
I'm currently crocked for running but will be helping out at all three.
Give me a shout at the summit at Wicken Hill, and at the end of the Bogs if you've got breath left.
Display your numbers clearly as Bill's got me writing them down, and I'm blind as a bat.:w00t:

Run from home as a warm up Steve. Got a pb for this race last year after a steady couple of miles before the start!

Good plan - I might even arrive on time for a change. I hear you will be in Wales doing the Welsh 3000ers??? Does that mean you will spend Friday eve camping on top of Snowden?

Re: midsummer madness races
There's a slight change to the route for Tom Tittiman (Sunday) - instead of doing a small loop at the far point (High Brown Knoll), the race will go round the trig point and back the way you came on the path.
That's on request of one of the moorland stakeholders.
As for the 3-day series... I'm anticipating an interesting battle between Jason Williams and James Logue over the weekend.
But will Turbo Tom sneak up and sprint past them both??

Good point Trig.
There's a hog roast at the Hare & Hounds on Saturday afternoon after the race.
Then, as he's done for the last few years, the landlord has arranged a band in the pub Saturday evening for our running weekend.
Its the band that played a couple of years ago, they like to do early Fleetwood Mac covers. Looking forward to it.
I hope plenty of you can make it to the Sat evening. Beer, food and a good craic. :)
The Leicester lot will no doubt be in the bar attempting to match their miles with pints.
