Trunce 2009 is over and has been a tremendous year.
Over the season there has been 1918 seniors and 359 juniors racing  which gives an average per race of 213 seniors and 40 juniors.
Some trophy winners had departed before the presentation took place after the last race.
2nd Male : 1st Female : 2nd Vet Female : 3rd Vet Female : 3rd Junior Male :
2nd Junior Female
Check with Trunce web site ( www.undeadmonkey.org.uk/trunce/ ) if you are one of these competitors.
PM me or contact me through details in callender to arrange delivery / collection.
Trunce.... 'T' minus 31 days and counting! :D
Yep! I'm looking forward to it immensely!
My next-door-but-one neighbours also run them, so we can 'car-share' all being well.
Personally speaking, I'd ideally like to get down to 30:00 by the end of the series, hopefully anyway.
(fiirst event was race 6 @ 37:08, & finished race 9 @ 32:12)
Still no T-shirt news?
I'm trying like hell to persuade at least one of my Club-member collegues who runs 10K's to join me on the start-line, but to no avail as yet.
Plus there's a few runners (ex, & present) amongst the Nurses, & other staff at work, but for some reason they refuse to join me.
I can't figure out why, as I'm sure there's a few 'quickies' amongst them
(we even have one girl who used to train, with Wakefield Harriers, with Emily Freeman, & regularly beat her in races, then she quit to start her Nurse training)
Similar story for me. Last year , the second time I ran it, I managed to get another club newbie to join me. He’s keen to come back again. The rest seemed to get a blank look on their faces when the word ‘fell’ came up......
This time there does seem to be a little more interest, although I doubt that’ll translate into more feet on the ground. Which isn’t really a bad thing, we don’t want even more of us at those bottlenecks?
I have to keep coming back and run this anyway. I had my vest printed with the number!
Ahh, but I'm on about members of a Cycling Club;)
Most of mine go blank when the word 'run' is mentioned
All the more reason for a good position at the start, & hold it until the first gate on the way to the first 'Don' crossing
So, how have you done before in the event?
(I only started competing in it between races 6 & 9 last year)
Only did 8+9 last year not looked back at the results, but I think it was 38:19 & 38:16
I’d been running less than a year and my first Trunce was my introduction to fell races.
Second time would have been better, but I lost concentration for a second and found I was following the pack in the wrong direction and had to dive up through the woods to get back on track......
Shouldn’t repeat that and should hold my place better on the descents this time.
Hoping to get PBs from race 1, but I enjoy this one so much I’ll not lose sleep over not doing. There’ll still be a smile on my face
Will beer vouchers be required on the 29th IDP?
I shall try to persuade a couple of the ones who run.
And, for the runners who feel a bit down afterwards (injured/poor times?), I know that there should be a Social Worker running:D
(I should be nicely 'warmed up', as it's the 'Wakefield City 10K Road-Race' the day before)
Less than 5 days to go to the first one. Been round the course and everything looks good. Not much water in the river at the moment but anything can happen in 4 days.
If you are planning on training / recceing the route, please be aware the section between the quarry and the cattle grid, approx 500 metres, is private land. The farmer is very accomodating where the race dates are concerned but has asked that people DO NOT train over his land.
To run the race route you would have to continue up to the road, turn left and continue to the bus shelter in Green Moor where there is a footpath that would take you back towards the cattle grid.
Thanks for your cooperation.
Good to know Andy, no doubt see you at one (or more!) this year.
I know there was talk last year about a series T-shirt? Is this going to happen this time?
I'm counting the days, & hope to be there on Monday evening ('all being well')
Sorry, can't guarantee bring any (real/proper) Nurses with me, bar SWMBO, but she's not a Nurse anymore
Damn, months waiting and now looks like I’ll be missing the first couple!:(
raining....
A classic tonight. Great to be back. Rain held off a bit after the start but still good n soggy underfoot. Chuffed with my sub-30mins given the conditions. That last climb up from the river was a b****r. Thanks to .Andy and all.
Easy tiger! Every 3 weeks or so. Next one19th April Details here

and fellrunners and marshalls. they were going down every where.
Very heavy going with tired legs from yesterday, Mud Mud Mud but hoping to sneak a pb and then keep it going every race to pick up lots of bonus points.
So disaster struck when I smashed my PB by over a minute racing Mick Stenton
Sub 28:eek: Bloody hell I'm stuffed for the rest of the year now:(
Results up. Generously given 10 pb points tho didn't run a pb. SShhhh! (or do i just not understand the points??)

Loved it!!
What a superb race!!
Almost didn't make it in time, as the M1 was crawling at 35-40MPH all the way from Carr-Gate (M1/M62 interchange) to almost Calder Grove (jct 39), then an apparant diversion for traffic through Dodworth & Silkstone Common slowed the journey down
I think I did manage to find the deepest hole in the 2nd river crossing though:mad:, as it was above knee-deep!
I'll freely admit to walking a while up the hill after the 3rd crossing, as I was suffering a bit:o
Still, I managed 33:05 (68th/219), so I was happy:D
