Nice run for a summer's evening, but I still have work to do on my ascending for the obvious (You & MH are still in for the big event I take it?). I'll stick with PC - I'm quite used to it now and don't find it a 'drudge'!! Plus you can't beat a dip in the YB jacuzzi afterwards.
STEVE
After last nights comfy fell session, a quicker paced hill circuit over totalling some 6 miles. Includes 3 x ~500ft ascents.
The things you have to do to get faster.... :(
Another lovely evening run in sunshine. 5 miles on road including 3 at tempo. It wasn't as fast as it felt, if you know what I mean, but Like Mr. Flintof says I just have to have faith now.
Jason
5m to work on singlespeed up Ripponden bank, delivered my sister's birthday card. 4m home at 10pm, still warm enough to ride in short sleeves and shorts:)
The boss was good enough to let me out for a scamper this lunchtime. :p
Approx. 4 road miles inc. 2 x ~500ft climbs in just under 37mins. Hope it pays off for Mt Famine next week!
5 miles, three at tempo pace, felt ok
8m to work on singlespeed, 4m home, warm and sweaty, need a cold shower now.
Yesterday 7.5miles over and around great hill from white coppice. Plenty of runners about coming from all directions. Another balmy evening.
This evening steady 10miles across fields and canal tow paths.:)
Nice run over loughrigg with the dog, enjoyable first run back in the lakes.
Honister, Moses Trod, black sail pass, Kirkfell, Gable, Green Gable, Brandreth, Grey Knotts, lovely run early start very sunny back in Sunderland for 4.00pm
3 miles this morning and 4 miles this evening. Both gentle recovery runs along canal towpaths. Total 45 mile this week but only 2500ft climbing.;)

Good to hear your knee is improving, But I bet I still won't get near you at the Trunce:(
Had a great day out on a BG recce with Daz and Marvin yesterday
10 hours on a very humid hot day
Dunmail to Scafell and back although I wimped out on the last hill
I'm sure Marvin will be along full stats but around 25 miles and 9,000ft.
There was a runner from Northumberland:confused: having a crack at it but pulled out just before Scafell. It would have been a tough round yesterday
1 hour on friday
2 hours today
Yesterday I marshalled on the Ben Lomond Hill race at around the 3 mile, 800m mark, so a fast walk up with my kit and an extra 4litres of water, standing round in the sun and playing with the dog for a few hours chatting to mountain rescue, then jog back down in the sun and a couple of hours in the local beer garden in baking weather. One of my fave days in ages!
Today was an easy 5.5 in mara pace, feeling very easy and thought I was too slow so pleased with that. thats my fastest run this week...until next sunday that is!
:)
Jason
Ripon 10 mile race today. Another hot one. Nice route, very undulating, mix of road, woodland and river trails. 25th F Cat. (116th overall) I think I'm improving abit! Time to chill out in the garden now I think. :)

9 miles on Bowland fells from fell foot felt too hot away from the breeze. Drop down to the farms to the west to increase the ascent. Descent down saddle was wonderful with a warm breeze in your face with skylarks singing above.:D
At least u missed the bad weather by running early in the mornin pacman....this aft' was horrendous rain and thunderstorms.
Good hilly hour, no rain - still got poorly bits so going to take some piccies Tues night as opposed to racing.
Very short and light run around Pex Hill only lasted 1.7 mile and decided to stop. My calf still felt tender. Looks like a few more days rest are needed and then may use the bike for a few days.
Wife was away this weekend so made the most of it and ran off into the hills with rucksack mountain marathon style. Wild camp Friday and Saturday and set off running Saturday morning
Saturday
Gt Knoutberry Hill
Swarth Pike Fell
Sails
Hugh Seat
Archy Styrigg
High seat
Coldberg Edge
Rogan Seat
Water Crag
Circa 37 miles
Sunday
Lovely Seat
Great Shunner Fell
Drumaldrace
Dodd Fell
Back to Dent Train Station via work clothes hidden.
Circa 26 miles
Total 63 miles although not sure of ascent (or how accurate this OS website is?)
Managed all the 2000ft+ hills or nuttalls in the Northern Yorkshire boundary fells in a bloody hot weekend. Struggled with water occasionally and with a heavy rucksack in boiling heat. Last hour in a thunderstorm. Not happy running down from Dodd Fell with lightning flashing round me with a metal tent pole sticking out my bag. Certainly put a spring in my step.
check the route here http://explore.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/os_routes/show/3503
If anyone has a spare 30 mins and could do it with memory map or something to let me know proper milage and ascent I would much appreciate it.
What a fab weekend AJF, not a moment wasted there! Well done you. :)
Shunner Fell...aaah...brings back memories of the 29 mile Shunner Shuffle in 1997 which I undertook with no running training at all! Still go up there sometimes and stop off at the lovely little cafe in Thwaite...nice cakes! ;)
Pleasant 8 miles round Winter Hill about 5.30 this evening, nice and cool.
MG, was a great weekend but probably not the best weekend for lugging round a rucksack when running. Strangly feeling fine apart from blister pains. No aching legs at all? Even biked to work this morning?
Great Shunner I was having a sense of humour failure until I descended to Herne Beck. Clean crisp water never tasted so good!
Sorry, also did nine standard trigs as well (but that ain't yorkshire so hardly worth mentioning). Reckon I will put it in the Long Distance Challenge Section as could be a good 15hr circular non-stop route.
Due to missing my morning training window Sunday am (on account of guests, late dinner + booze!) I managed 1 1/2 hours on roads and got back in at 9pm. Bl**dy tropical out I must say.
Makes you forget ever being cold...! :D
We don't all have our own running adventure thread;)
Will put the route in Long Distance Challenges and now I have recceed have a go at a sub 15 hours solo. There are still a few places I am unsure of fastest route. Mainly bit between Coldbergh Edge and Rogans Seat? I went low into the valley and round to Keld due to water considerations and easy running but think if a good route exists on tops it would be faster that way.
Bloody loads of problems! Springs and streams had all but dried up in a few places. Going from Sails to Hugh Seat was tough and as soon as I hit the end of the ridge I dropped to water. Great Shunner Fell I hit the top then straight down to streams again although the path was no-where near as runnable (or existant at points) as pennine way
Route to Rogans Seat was chosen mainly due to the lack of water on alternative route.
4mile to work on singlespeed up Ripponden Bank, 8mile home, felt good so beasted meself:cool:
Went for a 3 miles sprint y'day.....was running through this wood when came across a group of yobs. Had to cross a single file bridge across a stream; didnt half feel intimidated. Wasnt helped when one of the bastards wanted to fight me. I was crossing the bridge and he was sat on it so i had to staddle round him. He said something to me but i didnt hear him properly so i said "what" (I know its not the politest thing to say but i was out of breath and "what" just dropped out of my mouth).
He said back to me "who the f*** do you think you f***ing talkin to". Basically he's the brain dead village idiot and it always on drugs.
Lucky a lad who was there used to playin footy with me and he told him to leave me and i was able to carry on running.
That sort off stuff messes with your head and it was in the bakc of my mind all the way round till i got home.
am 5.6 mile steady 35 min hilly off road...pm 25 mile bike round trip to track 16 400s.
75 minutes on Pendle with 3 solid climbs thrown in - damn warm, even with tits out (again).
3.6 miles. Even managed 1.4 miles of it off-road. Another 1.4 miles further and it would have counted as 'training'. (Training as described in the book, Lore of Running: Doms Edition.)
Moel Eilio Race route from Llanberis, lovely clear night, warm and still on top, ran shirtless the whole way, summers really here. Felt tired. Did over 100 miles and 9000m ascent last week and it's catching up with me.
