Tintwistle Round the resers

Round the resers is coming up again Wednesday 27th June great 5 mile race :)

Will be there myself

any forumites that are think of doing it :D

Which res do you go round, Torside? Bottoms? Valehouse?

I really like this race myself, i love the fact that you can keep the whole field in view as you're running and i really like that short but but steep hill which adds a little spice on both laps. It's just getting there from North Manchester on the M57 and the A57 after work which is the ball ache.

Saints lad do you know anything about the Denis the Menace Trail race from Audenshaw in July? :confused:

I did that one last year... was on a really cool wet night. 2 laps on trails, grass and a canal bank. Quite enjoyed it - they served up sausages and chips at the pub afterwards! :)

Did this last year. Home for a week that week but undecided on round the resers or Shelf moor uphill. Shelf moor is looking fav at this stage

enjoyed this one tonight finished 2nd overall :) just could'nt catch greeny :rolleyes:

Saints lad these stats from a friends Garmin shocked me.

The Black Knight Trail Race has 1237 feet of climbing in it and is near enough bang on 6 miles.

The Denis the Menace Trail Race has 940 feet of climbing in it and is 4.9 miles long.


I'm doing a lot more climbing than i ever imagined when i'm doing these local trail races.:cool:

Anyone else do this last night? It was my first time and the first thing that occurred to me was that it should be called "Round the Reser", since it's only around Bottoms Reservoir. A brill race and a very warm evening, we all finished with hundreds of midges salted and drowned in our sweat. There were big club turnouts from Glossopdale, Bramhall, Sale and others, but I wonder if Stockport had the biggest turnout. It was a sea of yellow.

I was thinking of doing it but couldn't get away from work early enough, so may be next year! What is the course like, is it tarmac or track?

Novice! You are meant to warm up round t'other Reser.;)
Missed it I'm afraid - due to workload (why does Canada, especially Vancouver, wake up so late?)

Tracks and lanes, Mark - two loops with a cheeky little climb on the outward up leg and a zig-zag descent on the return down leg.

OB1, now that would be a big warm up to run round the next reservoir, considering we'd have to run the length of the first one to get there. Anyway I don't believe in warm-ups. Why waste the energy? Save it all for the race, I say. ;)

Is it round Bottoms now? It used to be around Valehouse - 2nd reser.
