Re: Horrible leg laceration.
Pah, 'tis but a flesh wound. Come back and fight. Etc.
Seriously though: ouch. Nasty. Fingers crossed for end of September. My massses of medical ignorance tells me this sounds about right. :)
Re: Horrible leg laceration.
try an over the counter multi vitamin with zinc to boost your wound healling, and the obvious high protein, low fat, healthy diet.
hope it all goes to plan mate.
Re: Horrible leg laceration.

You could always try debating with Christopher Leigh - helps pass the time - a bit like a track session - you go round in circles :D

Re: Horrible leg laceration.
lots of sympathy! i too went to Gisburn Forest and hurt myself, but it was on the new mountain bike trail-its horrible!--you have been warned!
back to your recovery-keep your pecker up and dont get stir crazy!
Re: Horrible leg laceration.
get well soon!
i suffered a not dis-similar injury a few years ago, caused by a sharp rock making a big hole in my calf, cutting through several muscles and also cutting into an artery. I had the operation where they clear out all the dirt, but after it was stitched up, I could only walk a few yards for about 2 1/2 weeks afterwards, but once all the muscles had knitted back together, I was able to walk fairly normally, and was actually running again, albeit very slowly and only on flat surfaces after about a month. It's very boring just lying on a bed all day, but I was lucky as it happened just a few days before the 2002 world cup finals started, so there was plenty to watch on the telly. Still I gather that a new series of Deal or No Deal has started on channel 4 this week, so it's not all bad news!!
best wishes for a quick recovery
Re: Horrible leg laceration.
THanks for the messages.
Oleg - You have made me feel much better! just went to get the stitches out today which really hurt and was asking the doc when i can bend it properly and he said take your time and don't force it. But it has been just less than two weeks and it is getting better to walk on but i am hopefull that in a month i may be able to start jogging slowly on it fingers crossed. If you were able to sounds like yours was worse than mine as i had no major muscle damage same op though - clean out all the grit and mud lovely!
Well sat here with my leg up again throwing a ball down to the end of the garden for the dog!
Re: Horrible leg laceration.
Still no photo though!! Come on...
Re: Horrible leg laceration.

Re: Horrible leg laceration.

Re: Horrible leg laceration.
Ady - i have thought about it believe me!! But as i'm not running with her she is turning into a lazy lump and enjoying the rest!!
Think that will be my first bit of activity though can stand on my bad leg and acoot with my good one so if you see me flying down Whinny Hill unable to stop make sure you get some photos!

Can I not borrow her and tie to the front of my cyclocross bike tommoz? :)
Re: Horrible leg laceration.
She is actually really good on the bike when harnessed infront!
Only prob at the mo is the temperature it's a bit too warm for her to run has to be under 16 degrees but if you fancy having a go with her when it cools down a bit give me a shout it's a great laugh! THe first time i was so scared thought i would end up over the handlebars (again at Gisburn forest!) but she's great! Only trouble occurs if you are on a single track and she goes one way round a tree and you go the other or if she spots a deer and takes off like a maniac! It's a proper sport you know bikejor - some events being run in the uk this year.

I saw somthing on TV the other day about the top UK female in some championship. She was on a mountain bike. I'm sure it won't be long before it's <16 degrees! Could be OK on the green route in Gisburn Forest - nice and wide :)
Get well soon.
Re: Horrible leg laceration.
Yeah i take her on my mountain bike up at Gisburn - when it's cold we do the red route which as about 21 k but we walk some of the single track sections just the one where the two streams are and the one where they cut all the trees down a few years back it's just when its a bit too steep it's a bit too scary and i don't want to kill her!
I'll nick another mally from a friend in winter and show you what it's all about! But you will have to wear a helmet!
Re: Horrible leg laceration.
Get well soon Vicci. Debbie showed me the photo on her phone, at the Golf Ball race, of your injury. OUCH!!
Re: Horrible leg laceration.
Thanks Steve - i was saying to Deb the other day i haven't done a race with you for ages!!
Hope all is well and hope to be back running soon!
