Last week there was plenty on the Kinder side, not too much around mam tor but a bit going up Brown Knoll. It's been pretty warmish and sunny so more will have gone. The short cuts had lots of deep snow in them midweek.. The rim path also had drifts across the path but these were well trod down. I'll update later after my trot round.
Had a run round yesterday, most of the snow is still deep in the short cuts. The compact snow around the rim is also there but is giving way at times which makes quite interesting running.

    Hi all

Did Mam Nick to finish inc RR today. It's a lot less snowy under foot and pretty clear apart from very small patches around BK. Short cuts still had some snow but not enough now to avoid them.

BK though is back to it's mud sucking best and very wet on the climb up to the Trig.

Once back on Kinder there are patches of deep old snow. It is worth noting that some of these are VERY hollow underneath esp in groughs with running water or by the edges. Please treat with caution!!!!!

The continued forcast is warm and sunny so we should loose more snow. Most of the heather/grass still has a perma frost and is very hard underfoot. There is water in all the cloughs so if you are dehydrated....

Conditions can only improve with the forcasted weather.

Worth mentioning is that although the valley was balmy and very spring like the top still had a biting wind.

    I'll post some picture later

thats a shame you'd probably still beat me though.

You could marshall if you are coming over to watch? but I prefer you racing if you are up to it.

I was thinking of you today when I stood on top of GK with RR looking tantilisingly close. up and down??????? or round the top???????

Don't think my quads would take it so far in to the race

We noticed that yesterday. Had to make quite a few detours to avoid falling into gaping holes in the snow.

We noticed that as well. Got a bit too much for us as we passed Brown Knoll on our way from South Head so we dropped down west and headed back to Hayfield.

How many people are brave/stupid enough to do the up and down? I was hoping to recce it and have a go, but never got a chance so will have to do it blind if I'm silly enough.

After spenging sunday's race passing keith on all the downs only to have the speedy git come past me on the ups, I think any climb should be avoided at all costs though!

If you search the skyline thread from 2006 & 7 I was on marshall duty on GK and counted them, If I remember it was about 12 of the top 30 and then a few die hards maybe another 10? out of the rest. If it was earlier in the race I think I would do it but at the end you would need to be going well. it's a big descent with tired legs to then reclimb up to RR.

the question is though Paul will you be out the day after for the start of the Summer series?????

Lloyd normally does it and it doesn't seem to do him any harm! But when Daz tried it I very nearly caught him, having been several minutes behind him at GK.

The best advice I've had for the GK direct to RR line is from an old DPFR hand:
'Many have tried and few have succeeded'
