    Footwear Advice

Hi everyone, i've been running for about 6 months now and i'm after some advice. I'm currently looking for a new pair of trainers that will be suitable for trail runs with a bit of road running now and again, also i'm taking part in the LAMM in june so i would want to use them then. I've looked at Walsh's and i think they maybe a bit too agressive for my needs, how about Inov8 mudrocs ? All feedback greatly appreciated

    cheers

    Dan

    Hi Dan
    Welcome to the forum.
Your best bet would be to go to a specialist store and try on different brands & styles.
There isnt one shoe or brand that does it for all.
Mudroc would be a good choice though you may find a Roclite shoe more to your liking.
You can see different features HERE

    Hi,
Thanks for the quick response, i like the sound of the roclite 315's the only problem is the location of the nearest outlet, would i be alright buying online or do you recomend a 1 to 1 fitting. I want to get the right ones so i feel a trip to Kendal maybe on the cards

I find real fell shoes uncomfortable to run in on anything like hardpack trail for any distance.

Check out Adidas Kanadia or Mizuno Wave Harriers / Wave Ascends for all round trail purposes.

A lot of people swear by Roclite 315s but I don't get on with them for some reason.

I use New Balance 840 shoes for similar running. I don't wear them for road only runs, but they're fine for where there are extended road sections as part of a route. Fairly cheap too, £45-£50 a pair.

    Re: Footwear Advice

I also use the NEW BALANCE 840s http://www.pro4sport.co.uk/running/shopexd.asp?id=9966 but usually when there is more Off Road than on.

I have now covered 300 mile on mixed terrain in a pair of these :- http://www.peteblandsports.co.uk/pro...te.htm?brand=1
and they have been great and Tarmac does not appear to destroy the studs to quickly, the WALSH will be my choice for the UTLD
    (lLakeland 100).

If you Visit Pete Blands, then you could also visit the NEW BALANCE factory outlet in SHAP that way you get to try plenty of brands of Running shoe, plus you will get get unbiased advice and be able to decide for yourself.

    Re: Footwear Advice

The other half has a pair of mizuno wave harrier's for all round use and she rates them really highly so check a pair of them out. The la Sportiva Crosslite would also be worth checking out. Myself i swear by inov-8. Just make sure you get the right size or you could have problems, though that would be the case with all brands. I would highly recommend a trip to Pete Blands as the advice and service they offer is second to none. They will also have pretty much any shoe that's worth having in stock. It ain't that far from Wigan either, i travelled further when i went and it was well worth it.
