another heal and arch pain

my wife started running about and has developed a pain in her right foot, to be more precise its starts in the heal and seems to radiate to the arch. when the pad of the heal is squeezed at the sides with thumb and forefinger it is tender , the pain doesnt radiate round the heal to achilles. she also says in the morning when she gets up or if shes been off her feet it feels very stiff until shes moved about on it then it eases for a while but during the day turns into an ache and then gets more painfull as the day goes on. she runs 4 or 5 miles 3 times a week on flat grass or paths and the occasional trail. ive never suffered with pf or any other foot injury so dont really know what this is got the odd theory but was hoping the combined knowlege of the forum could help and id it

well... it SOUNDS like pf. From the brief description- especially from the location and the getting better throughout the day, pf.
Have a go with stretching the calf out with the leg straight AND (more importantly) BENT. Have a look on the other plantar fascia threads as well.

Thanks zephr I thought of pf and looked at other threads but was unsure with it more under heal pad does pf affect there ? In inexpeirenced with pf thankfully. Got her stretchng and new
Shoes at weekend and she got a foot massage every night out of it !

Agreed - sounds like PF. In addition to the usual stretches get her to "draw" the letters of the alphabet with her toes/foot a couple of times a day.

Thanks lilactime I did that and picked out a couple of stretches for her and the soleus muscle and learned a bit to boot , she's also rolling heal and arch on a can of soup , getting a foot massage nightly off me and having a couple wks off running and upto now it all seems to be having a positve effect. I didn't realise there was so much of this of thing on u-tube. Thanks to all forumites for your help :-)
