    LED Lenser H7R Headtorch

Has anybody come across this before:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenser-Recha...sion+headtorch

Seems pretty decent & I'm in the market for a decent, & not too expensive, headtorch.

I've had one of these for ages and while it's cheap it has a few drawbacks.

    1. On full power the beam visibly dims in about 45 minutes.

    2. The 'dimmer' switch doesn't really offer much in the way of fine tuning.

    3. This is probably the worst issue. The light swivels. You can set it straight ahead or various angles towards the floor. Over time, very little time to be honest, it gets looser and looser and will fall all the way forward after just a heavy footstrike. Upshot is that the light now points straight down, blinding you and failing to light the way ahead. It nearly always does this on a tricky section!

I'm looking for a new headtorch.

I've got one and think it is great! I had the problem with the swivel, but easily sorted out by pushing the little plastic nub further into the ratchet. I also get about 2 hours on almost full power. As it takes ordinary aaa batteries too, it is easy to carry a back up. The flood to spot feature is really good as well, and it is very comfortable to run with.

I'd read the other reviews before you dismiss it.

Mmmm, cheers Stumpy. a bit of food for thought. I have a Petzl Myo XP, which is just adequate. So wanting to upgrade without breaking the bank. I'm going to be running back from work over the moors quite a bit this winter, so need something decent.

Funnily enough thatis what I upgraded from. Of course,if you want something superbright and cheap, then one of those Magicshine bike torches with a head band adapter is the thing, but for all round comfort and practicality with a bright enough, focussable beam for a run home, I reckon it would be hard to beat the H7R for value. Mine will be on its 3rd season this year.

What did you do with it? I've played about but can't see how to push it into the ratchet. Thanks.

Then go for a H14. it's a bit heavier but with a long battery life and superb beam. I've a H7 and H14 love them both. 7 for racing, 14 for long runs and searches.

I did use the 7 for the HPM but it didn't quite make it through the night.
