Before today little was known about the race and just for good measure Des made changes as late as Thursday....crikey we were in for a treat.
It's customary on the short champs races that the ladies usually go first and on their return it was evident they'd had a gruelling experience. Some of the comments I heard ranged from, "that was savage"....."what a brutal race"....and my favourite being, " I thought it was only supposed to be like a cross country course".

The first long climb was one of them annoying climbs that you know you've to run it all no matter how much it hurts. But then it was all worth it because the hidden valley at the back was fantastic. Great little descents followed by short stiff climbs all played out in glorious sunshine. The fast run back to the finish was a killer and I thought, "that bloody clubhouse doesn't seem to be getting any closer". I don't know what hurt the most, the climb or descent.

Congratulations to all the winners from all the various categories. Massive thanks to Des and his team for a brilliant race....I bet Leicester city couldn't do it.
Haha! There were a few choice comments from runners coming past my marshalling point (the boggy bit just before your first steep climb) - "What? Up there?"

Of course Des's prize-giving was unique, as ever!

I like the one where Tom Brunt is lining up to drop-kick a lamb.

I'd like to see one of us finishing in the field Noel. Legs finally got moving then!

There have been some races where I'd be pleased to have a photo showing me just one place behind you. At the time I was just pleased to not lose another place with Darren closing fast. Hopefully we'll both be fitter next time, and we can be battling for a top 40 place, not top-76. (or whatever it was).
