    A Ban for runners

Following on from my "kit" post.I think a banned list should be brought in.As well as people who don't carry the proper kit......(3yr ban)

1.People who are near the back of the field who somehow manage to find the energy to sprint the last 100 yards in 10seconds and pip there mate to the finish. Why do these guys save so much energy ?? Instant 2yr ban and DQ

2.Runners who don't thank all marshalls on way round,no excuse.3 month ban

3.People who turn up with £20 notes at registration.2 month ban

    ......

Sounds like you have an axe to grind RR. Have you recently had a bad race?

I think the people who sprint the last 100 yards might be the ones who got delayed thanking marshals and waiting for their change at registration.

I think Rodders Rambler doesn't know much about physiology if he thinks it is necessary to hold energy in reserve in order to outsprint another runner to the line.

Two words:- Aerobic & Anaerobic. Your homework is to find out what they mean....

Also if I am not in a racing mood and not pushing myself hard, I will say thankyou to the marshals (or if you're so far ahead there's no-one about to provide any competition). However when I'm racing I don't have time to think about it. I would say thankyou at the end or when the results get posted on the internet. However I also take my turns to marshal events, and I don't expect people to say thankyou. If they do, very nice, but if they're saving themselves just to be able to say thanks, I'd rather they didn't and were a bit quicker, so I could get back to the finish (thinking of horrendous 6 hour marathons here - & not busy ones either....)

    Re: A Ban for runners

I wouldn't suggest a ban for having no proper kit, just don't allow people to run that particular race. Maybe like a blanket smoking ban they just introduce mandatory kit for every fell race, no questions asked, no need for discretion, just simple and manageable. (kit would still need to be checked). once people are aware of that fact then there can be no arguments.

    Steady on Harry, that's a bit knee-jerk isn't it?

I will always carry kit if asked to by a RO & on most of my training runs, but I love to race unencumbered when given the opportunity.

BTW everyone where's your sense of humour gone? Has CL sucked all amusement out of this forum? I'm sure that RRs original post was tongue in cheek.
I've just decided I don't trust you anymore.
