Certainly hope Mathew Roberts is okay after seeing that on TV it really does show what a tough race it is and how the heat and terrain can affect you. Never seen so many keel over.

As for the coverage of the race they did a god job but it would be nice to have more actual coverage of the race itself.

Cheers Pinno - by now feel quite a bit better, off to hospital in copter, on the drip, few tests then let me go at 8ish last night so all well (was actually lying where I slumped down for 1.5hrs with 'fellrunner' looking after me before copter actually arrived!)............having said that all looked a bit bloody scary on the tv!!...............by the way cannot remember much from halfway house down and deffo do not remember anything about the collapse!

Just to check - anyone know anything about recovery time from such a thing as that - heat exhaustion / severe dehydration??

    Cheers!!

Glad your well mate ...like i said you were going well at the top.Just like Ian Hughes at the finish mind, these things can come over you very quickly. He was not even running and went from fine to very ill pretty damn quick.
I'm just pleased you were on a grassy area when it came on..to stumble that dehydrated on a rocky section could have been very nasty.
Just have a good rest and rehydrate over the next week and work your way back slowly, just see how you feel.
I think another station half way down might have helped, although how many would have used it is a different matter !

Yeah as you say I doubt many would use it, I drunk 1 cup at Half way on the way up, poured water on myself at clogwyn and had a few sips off supporters bottles on the way up, but took nothing running down, I doubt many did as it's so hard to drink running down hill.

Scarey seeing it all on TV, suprised it was shown, and it shocked me how bad it looked, but I don't know what I expected it to be like so don't know why it shocked me. Quite a few looked to be not far off that state though, warm and humid is about as bad as it gets I reckon.

By the way, the guy falling who was shown again highlighted, erm may have been me..well was me..I was taking a short cut someone had told me and looked across to see Math going Right and looked across thinking 'yeah it's working I'm getting ahead' then kicked a rock..

Glad you're okay Rhosgamath. In the respect of fluids and salts, recovery will be complete when these have been replaced. Your muscles will take longer, but you'll probably feel quite good in a few days.

I didn't know I could get S4C on freeview so missed it will try and keep an eye out over the next few days

well done to all the great times being posted here

Just looked at the s4c website and it is on at 10pm tomorrow for all that missed it. Tried to look at watch again but it is not up there yet.

Well done everyone, sounds like it was VERY tough out there.

I too suffered a similar condition to yourself a few years ago also requiring hospital treatment and drinking saline soloution. Like me you look tall ,do you sweat alot normally, if so check your diet as much as your hydration levels I was advised to check nutrients such as salt with a lead up to a race especially if it looks hot. I was back racing after about 3 weeks all be it very gingerly.

Glad to hear your ok , take easy for a few weeks and you'll be fine.
