Thanks Daleside. Can't wait.
Can anyone recommend shoes for 3 Peaks race?
When I did a recce a couple of weeks ago I used the Inov8 Mudclaw's, which I thought were great, but rather like football boots on the hard stuff, but fantastic on the downhill muddy sections.
First year I did the 3 peaks I wore Walshes, my feet suffered really badly.
Last year, I wore trail shoes, but had studs added to the soles at Lancashire shoe repairs, they where fantastic, cushioning as well as grip
I've worn Mudroc 290's on my 3 reccies over the 3 sections. Only problem was on Ingleborough in snow and ice. Hopefully you won't get that in late April! I think I'd prefer studs to trail shoes, but something with a bit of comfort for the road sections.
I wore Mudclaws last year (the grey ones, not the more cushioned 320's) and they were murder on this hard-surfaced course. Never again. Mizuno Wave Harriers for me this year.
My number arrived today - 453. Jelly babies for me please Millipede.![]()
Footwear: a choice between Mudroc 330's or Flyrocs. Probably the Flyrocs because I wore them for That's Lyth a few weeks ago and know where the blisters will be. Never worn the mudclaws for more than 12 miles at a time so don't want to risk them on the 3 peaks.
Having said that, the paths off all the peaks are heavily conservated so I'll probably be slipping all over the place in flyrocs if it's wet.![]()
