    From Plumbum

"The only request I have had, so far, is from United Utilities for us to avoid their newly developing grass around Soldiers Lump, this means going about another 30 metres past the point where a lot of folk branch off the haed for Crowden Little Brook.
The significant land marks to look for are the 2 sizeable "ponds" that you would turn off the paving slabs as you reach them, this would take you over about 10 metres of new grass.
Go beyond the "ponds" by about 5 metres to where a small "cairn" is on the right hand side of the slabs, look left at this point and you will see a trod running roughly in the direction you want.
After 50 metres (ish) another trod crosses the one you are on, this is the one you would have ben on if you had turned off the slabs before the "ponds". Turn right on this new trod and you will get to the, whats left of, stile at the top of Little Brook.
The route described above will avoid us treading any new grass.
    Thanks for your cooperation."

Hope that clears it up Alphin

Is a beeline straight off the trig point out of bounds then - I always did that which isn't a bad idea as there's a big peat hag to head for though a bit gloopy - tried to find the turn off from further down the slabs though and went wrong, as did a few others

Been out for a recce from Black Hill to Crowden today, followed plum bums instructions to pick up the trog on left from just after the flooded area, then turn right at the trog crossing. Found the broken style and climbed over after I dragged myself out of knee deep mud. Uncertain of path then but spotted stud marks and followed these all the way to Crowden, well done fellow recciers. It was bloomin cold today feet like blocks of ice, much colder than last weekends OMM.
