Hope Fell Race

I agree - fantastic course. Similar in parts to the sadly demised "some you win some you lose" fell race.

Apparently there were 247 starters.

Thanks to the organisers, marshalls, cake-makers and people who let the race go across their land.

Was out meself last night for a long 'un, bloomin' hot but the midges were the worst.

Darth had about 15 seconds on me at the finish but I was catching on the descent but legs were shot by the field and only just had ehough to hold off first lady

Pink Pony Steve came in just a few places behind me.

If I could change any thing for next year I'd turn down the thermostat. boy was it hot.

Lloyd won in 41:18 (well done in that heat!) Stuart Bond 2nd about 30 seconds back.

First lady left me in a melted heap after the descent off Win Hill - well done to her.

Can someone cut the heather for next year please? I've only got short legs

You must have been just behind me Ian (in Goyt Vest 26th in 51:43) as I had the first lady breathing down my neck for most of the race... I only pulled away because of my freakishly long legs in the heather!

Really enjoyed it... great course that had a bit of everything.. 15 degrees cooler would have been nice though!

You or Darth were only just ahead of me then I think? I passed you (or darth) going up the first hill then got blown away on the descents!! Esp the last one - that damaged a few toes!! Can only assume/hope the lead lady was in a pink vest?

I think next year I might use the path up win hill - much more runable then hopping through the heather!

The new course was certainly a little tougher than I expected after doing it last year, I thought we'd just cut through fields at the start/finish to miss the village estate and go up to the summit from the west, not go over the ridge and descend most of the way to Ladybower to climb from the north!

There were indeed 247 entrants, I was number 247 having arrived at the last minute following holdups with the M1 being shut and almost giving up and turning back home. Luckily the pre-race instructions speech was quite long

I've barely run in the last 3 months with back problems, and it was my first fell race in what seems like an age, so fairly pleased with how it went, even though Ian overtook me when I was tramping through the heather on the direct line up to Win Hill whilst he went round the path.

Well organised event, good that they asked for feedback after last year and responded to it. They even had cakes at the finish.

A little warm for me, I think I could have wrung my pink pony vest out by the finish, but at least the sun wasn't out in full strength.

My first ever DNF Have a nice bluey purple ankle after going over several times - first time after only 300 yds!

However, just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the 2/3rds of the race I actually got round. I enjoyed Castleton a couple of weeks earlier but this was even better. Bit hot tho!

Congrats to the organisers for listening to what the runners want and making a good race a cracking race.

A big thank you to the MRT team who gave me a lift back. Also to the young lady who drove me the last couple of miles - I think she said she was the race-organisers (step?) daughter. Sorry about the sweaty smell . . . well, it WAS hot.

Being attended to by the two St. John's Ambulance ladies was a real treat - the ice felt terrific. In fact, I may whimp out on a regular basis just to get the attention - more fun than crossing the finishing line when nearly everyone else has gone home!

I must have past you on the descent from Twitchill farm as I didn't catch Channah until the last road crossing before the farm

I was 53:30ish I think so bringing up the rear of this little group I'm afraid! Still, wasn't actually a bad run for me and really enjoyed it so can't complain!
