Theres a difference between flailing your arms for balance and using it to slow down. I find my descending is much quicker if i adopt a track running style. Much smoother, more compact and more efficient

2000' in 3.5 miles. Road and track all the way, then stone/rock steps (dodgy if wet) to the summit. Return is initially via heather/fell to avoid steps and remaining runners, and then track/ road to finish. Even I've managed to descend 40% faster than the ascent, so if you can run at top speed downhill for 3.5 miles, enjoy. Not as tough as Kentmere.
