Anyway it was nice to give him the cake.
V50 phew. Hope im that good in 12 years time.
The chocolate cake was great, thanks, Daz - we had that after the curry yesterday evening. Thanks also to Emmi for the fantastic apple pie that you baked for me. We had that before the curry yesterday afternoon - scrummy!

The race was excellent - thanks especially to the marshals for going out in the cold & waiting for us. I'd expected a bit more snow, having spent most of Thursday evening up to my knees in the stuff on Kinder.

Agree with Daz, though, a bit of tape at that last left turn would have been handy. And what was all that about running round the cricket field at the end?!!

Last year I got all the way around with only a hint of cramp. I got to (what I thought was) the end and cramped up completely. It took me 2 mins to get round that blasted cricket pitch walking like the Tin Man of Wizard of OZ (before he's been oiled). This year, I was ready but I still got cramps and managed a more wooden leg style before succumbing to the spasms over the finish line. Its a bugger and drains any last ounces of energy left inside you eh.
Well Done Geoff and Happy Birthday, hope I'm still running at 50?

    Brilliant pics!

How do I contact Dave to get permission to use one of our first finisher for the local paper write up?

    Re: Wadsworth Trog

I was thinking today at work that i've never run what i might call a local race such as this, because i don't know that area of the pennines i just stick to the dales national park and the lakes which i do. I'll definitely keep the half trog in mind if my fitness improves...whoops there's that wishful thinking again
