    Re: high peak marathon

we were out last night, i think it was you we saw up at Howdedn Dge Rach.

we went from cut throat bridge to snake pass sumit. the snow across bleaklow was very bad, between 6 and 12 inches. luckily e had footprints to follow and we hit all the checkpoints without any problem.

the route took us 6 hours instead of the usual 4 1/2 partly weather and partly our injured team mate. see seperate thread (wanted)

Well I we have an on going snow storm outside. proably about 4 inches at the moment and still coming down, this on top of whats already out on the edge will make progress next to impossible and all those 'lines' will be recovered. If this keeps up then this years HMP will be an Epic!

    Think I might take skis!

In 2005 and 2006 we had lots of soft snow. Times were slow for all categories. It was hard work, you could not run. There were massive snow drifts. The Pennine way from Wain Stones to Snake was just full of the stuff. Devil's Dike was so deep, we were struggling on along the side - soft snow on heather.
The paved section from Snake to Mill Hill was invisible so we folowed a direct compass bearing.
It nearly put me off HPM!

PS: I was up early this morning but the 3 hour score Dark and White event was postponed (again). I positively dislike that white stuff!

Stick them on your feet and use them as snow shoes.

I've replied on your other thread.

Went up Cutgate today another 8-12 inches fell last night more in the drifts. Nearly all the heather was covered except by the Cutgate cairn where the wind had blown hard and kept it clear(er) all those reccied trods have been hidden
