Thread: changes in Settle!

    changes in Settle!

Well we listened to the runners. The Settle Loop Tough Trail race has now eliminated the majority of the horrible tarmac section, the route is now mainly grass and bridleway. We have also delayed the start to 10.45 to allow runners to use the Leeds train. One thing unchanged are the copious amounts of homemade cakes free to all entrants!

Blimey I never realised that it had a tarmac section! What did it go up Albert Hill and along the full length of Stockdale Lane? If so the change is a no brainer.

Am i missing something - what date is it? maybe I'm staring right at it but can't see it on the web site, looks a good route.

EDIT: Ignore me, I've seen it on the FRA calender, shame I can't do it, it's the Yorkshireman the same day. I think I may prefer the Settle one!

Stolly-the old route started next to the Pinfold, the down Lambert Lane, you are quite correct it was a no brainer in the end so we changed it to all that beautiful springy grass.
Alfa-shame about the Yorkshireman-i will eat a cake on your behalf!! (also you are correct the date is not on the website front page but as you now know its on 12th september)

Somewhere on one of the website pages, it says, category now AM so can act as a qualifier for the 3 peaks, but 8.5mile and 1250 feet isn't A, is it?? Still BM on the fellrunner.org website. Have got a mid-life crisis desire to do 3 peaks next year so scrabbling around for suitable races...Clarification gratefully received...

Settle loop is definitely only a BM race and the 3 peaks requires (is it at least 3?) AL, AM or BL races to qualify

Does anyone know what the navigation is like on this race, i.e. is the course flagged out or will I have to keep my map to hand? I was thinking of doing it as a qualifier for the 3Ps, but as already mentioned it might not be enough! (Damn!)

navigation is very straight forward and a very good runnable race. i am a bit dismayed to be missing it

That's what I like to hear! Think I'll have to give it a go.

sorry about the confusion-the website has now been amended, as confirmed, the route is well flagged and hopefully a marshall on each gate. we have a water stop half way round. Registration is at the drill hall-found on Castleberg Lane-below Castleberg rock and past "Spensleys" shop-up the cobbled street (Castle Hill) and swing right.
