    Roclite 295 alternative?

I bought some of these in May and have been really impressed with the comfort and grip. However, I used them on Monday for a run up the Watkin path to Snowdon, south ridge, Yr Arran and back. When I got back on onto the Watkin path the pounding on the stone led to back and hip pain which lasted for a few days. I guess that for me they don't have enough cushioning for that sort of terrain. Does anyone have any suggestions for something similar that will do for when I'm running on this sort of terrain?
    Cheers
    Greg

Maybe you can try the Roclite 319 which has more cushioning.

    Look at your running technique.

Human legs can naturally "cushion" a hell of a lot better than any shoe cushioning. Try increasing cadence and shorten your stride. Give it a go next time you do the route and see how it feels.

100% agree and, if you think about it, how much difference can a half or quarter inch of rubber make when you're generating forces of up to six times your body weight? An analogy would be expecting an egg to remain intact if you whacked it with a hammer just because you wrapped it in a tea towel to "cushion" it.

I would take that advice. It has a lot of credibility. What Terry doesn't mention is that he came 4th in the Lakeland 100 wearing inov8 baregrip 200. These have no midsole/foam at all. Can't wait for these shoes to come out.
I've been up Watkin path many times in x-talons. It can be a bit jaggedy rock like but just run lighter and bend the knees.
