All classic Cardiff centre pubs all now long gong. At least The Old Arcade still stands, still serving excellent Brains SA!

Too many to mention, or even recall, from my younger days in W. Sussex. No 'fell runner' pubs (not in Sussex in the 60/70s!!) but all classic country drinking pubs - now long gone or turned into Gastropubs, which better called restuarants that will serve you a pint of beer under sufference.

It's actually worse than that, the Bluebell premises still exist but converted to some nouveau modern drinking establishment with a trendy name, Goat major or somesuch. The Bluebell as we knew it is long gone, now just a faded memory:boohoo::thunbdown:

I dont have much to add here - being a non drinker and all (as you all know!) but we had a pub in leeds called 'the pub with no name' and it became a shop but before it was a shop it was one of the few places in town you could watch bands and I remember seeing folk like 'zoot and the roots' in the late 80's (also went to see them in the astoria which is now a small block of flats!)

but on the whole I dontthink we have lost too many pubs round these parts.....

Opposite where the Buck and Dog stood in Stockport was the Warren Bulkeley, a rambling old Wilson's pub which was knocked down in the same redevelopment that put paid to the B & D. I did see Climax Chicago Blues Band there in an upstairs concert room in 1969!

You're lucky - on the Western side of the Pennines it 's been a different matter:

Manchester:
Tommy Ducks - demolished illegally on a Sunday morning (remember the knickers on the ceiling?)
The Grapes, Deansgate - an absolute classic
The Coach and Horses, opposite Picadilly station, the first proper real ale free house I ever came across
and then there was that underground pub on Market Street (I've forgotton the name) where you could get 2 or 3 of the old Scottish and Newcastle real ales including Younger's No 1.

Stockport:
Apart from the ones I've already mentioned a whole swathe were knocked down to make way for the M60. I was also sad to see the Stanley Arms on Newbridge Lane become a carpet shop - it had a very enterprising landlord.

Was that the Duchess of York DS - the place where many future stars played their first gigs in Leeds - incl Oasis and Nirvana -like you say now a shop!!

Luckily most that I know of that have closed in my 15 years in Leeds have been those I'd not have wished to frequent - the Becketts in Meanwood springs to mind - now flats!!
