For those who dont know it. This is where you get off the path for Wildboar Clough.
Skew Bridge is indeed a long established local name for the slanted bridge at 077989. For a long time there was uninterrupted access this way along the lane to near The Lodge, or directly up to Rollick Stones. Around the time the shooter's track was bulldozed up to Shining Clough, much access was lost including the use of this track. Since the coming of the Boar Shoot this has worsened, with the bottom of Fairvage becoming out of bounds.
It is now certain that we can't go directly up Lawrence Edge ( to the East of the Boar shoot perimeter fence?)
Daz,
What's the location of this so called path for wild boar? i've never seen it before (not that i frequent the area).
Based on discussions above i'm guessing we can run past the shooting range, past the "Skew bridge" then hang a left from Longdendale trail, jump the fence and smash our way to the top of wild boar?? sound fair??Sweet i'm in...
Because I was unsure if we would be allowed to use WBC I went out for a run yesterday from Crowden to Edale.
I went up Torside accross Harrop Moss, Shelf Moss to Hern stones. That is a very nice run lovely trogs across.
I had never been there before and found them without too much difficulty.
I then doubled back to the summit to get to the top of WBC. (Finding WBC in reverse takes a bit of searching)
I then doubled back again to run to Edale so a great day out.
As ye can well imagine the peat is like concrete. So lots of ice and where is is churned up does wonders for the ankles.
From the weather forcase it would appear we will have the same conditions on race day so not conducive to fast times!!
