I am a member rep on the FRA Committee. However, whilst I can explain the WFRA position at FRA Committee meetings, if asked, the WFRA was not contacted by any member of the subcommittee for further information.

Only if UKA decide that fell running is no longer an athletic sport.

UKA would still retain their control over fell running and appoint another organisation or Committee to manage the English team for event such as the european championships. The FRA may then just become a fringe sports organiser with no real responsibility for fell running within England.

    Re: Ballot Paper Arrives

It's time that someone spoke up for the new governing body for English athletics, their structure and what they propose to do for fell racing. The Foster Report has been with us for some time and plans for fell racing should be well developed.

Backed up with formidable expertise and professionalism, you'll find their general stuff here:
    http://www.englandathletics.org/stru...and-governance

Plans for road racing are here:
    http://www.englandathletics.org/nort.../road-running/

Plans for fell racing are here:
    http://www.englandathletics.org/nort...-fell-running/

    I couldn't find any mention of cross country - - .

Study these carefully before you vote and risk losing the support of English Athletics and UKA for our vitally important fringe sport. Identify where your club stands in the impressive section on structure and governance. Observe how FRA is integrated into the Foster plans.

Study also the growing flow of mainstream road clubs that are leaving UKA and have set up the ARC:
    http://www.runningclubs.org.uk/

Why have they not recognised the value of UKA and English Athletics?

You should not simply believe the Jeremiahs on this Forum who fail to understand why we should vote to stay with UKA. Look at the evidence yourself, including our FRA sub-committee report.

    Then vote very carefully.

Sorry XRunner, I fail to see how giving over the organisation of the english team to a professional body for international events removes the responsibilty for fell running in general. Thats not so much the tail wagging the dog as the flea tossing the elephant.
Is the FRA there to manage ?20 person? team england or represent the 6,000 plus other runners?

Why should all English fell runners decide that they would rather be independent? Many will still wish to remain within the framework of UKA and EA.

The risk the FRA membership have to accept is that a split in the FRA with some members staying with UKA and others forming an independent body is that the sport will be divided again!

Is this really what the FRA Members want?

The FRA manages fell running, and very well too, on behalf of its members but technically under the umbrella of UKA.

Whether or not the FRA is affiliated to UKA has no effect whatsoever on 99% of fell runners who just turn up to races and run.

UKA affiliation does have an effect on those who administer fell running ie the FRA Committee and it has decided to stay with UKA.

    End of story.

when I looked the plans were not available - just a blank page. I seem to remember that communication issues were one of the major gripes with UKA?
    This doesn't help.

    Re: Ballot Paper Arrives

I have read many of the posts and it could be that I am being a bit slow (I do run for the same club as Brett) but what are the real problems of being affiliated to UKA. A solution to the communication problems of last year has been put in place and the big issue with race officials also sorted, so what are the outstanding problems?
