Well first of an apology if I am a jinx, but Martyn and then the Clayton lass were both just ahead of me when they went down, honest I didnt touch them though! On the other hand both their reactions were in the best fell running traditions, brave, quiet and looking after them selves appropriately, though one went on and one knew they couldn't.
As a whole this was a brill race, and I always love it. Over breakfast I didnt really want to run, and with coffee watching the rugby I was thinking of giving it a miss.
Am I glad I didn't! the weather was perfect, the terrain difficult, the organization brilliant, and the competition warm. Special thanks to the Stubborn Keswick lady I had a tussel with to the end, she climbed well but I ended up descending faster, more due to weight then fast legs.
After a rough summer with a calf tear and then being knocked off the bike being only 10 min off my pb, in slippy conditions, was really pleasing.
For the record I wore Mudclaw 270's, only £50 (odd) from Northern Runner and they were, as ever, peace of mind on my feet.

Well done everyone, that looked hard! Lots of people running past bleeding and with mud spatters up to their waists. If it had been me I'd be sitting in the mud weeping. My husband didn't even fall and was quite tempted to stop for a cry...don't tell him I said that ;-)
I'm so glad someone could document our suffering/enjoyment (delete as appropriate). I've emailed you requesting the image of me looking rather dishevelled.

I did notice when I finished that everyone had Inov-8's on but didn't register all the models. I had Mudclaws on, so did Birkinshaw. At least a couple were loudly cursing their X-Talons at various points. They're awesome shoes but they;re just no match for Mudclaws when the ground is that wet.

heck that were hard. Fantastic race tho..
All the talk at the start was of clag and bearings off blisco and swirl how but when we got up there it was clear all the way round. Very wet, was soaked before the start from the walk from hodge close.
Really enjoyed the descents off blisco and lingmell. Apart from the bracken/rocky bank coming down to blea tarn-that was lethal as usual.
Think I did 2.52 which is a bit disappointing but it's been a bad summer injury wise and it felt like a good run so that's what matters.

ill be going back to a pb one thats for sure, side tensioners kept slipping loose n waist strap to long
I get that with my OMM bumbag too, it's a pain (in the arse - sorry)
