Almost 4 years later here's my sightings of Short Eared Owls on the high moors above Settle (Stolly's home village)...

Really nice pictures, the light on the underside of the owl is fantastic , brings the shot alive. I wish I could take pictures half as good as these . thank you for sharing them.

First sighting this year (for me) of a lapwing. All on its own over Bodkin Rough, Leeshaw Reservoir, Oxenhope......fantastic......spring is (nearly) sprung!

Indeed the hills were alive with bird song this morning and the valleys were covered in Tit's chaffinches and other little birds. Didn't see a curlew today but have seen some over the last week and Lapwings, pretty certain I saw a wheateer as well.

Saw a hare running across the trail up in the woods on Warton Crag last night and later a frog - spring is definitely on the way!

I've been hare watching too and it was froggy slalom on the way home via Grewelthorpe this evening.

Two Roe deer ran across the path about 40 yards in front of me at Jockey Gate near Midgehole as I was doing the Calder Valley Round. First I have seen for a year so was a special moment.
